Xfinity RACE thread --- Charlotte Roval

I just saw they're bringing in more lighting for tomorrow's race! Smart move!

Xfinity RACE thread --- Charlotte Roval

I'm just using NHIS as a template. Charlotte has plenty of land behind the backstraight to make for a better, truly unique hybrid "roval". As you said in another thread the need to work on drainage for sure. I think if they want to make this a regular thing and part of the playoffs then do it...

Xfinity RACE thread --- Charlotte Roval

Absolutely! Those guys had to work for everything out there and use good judgment! I honestly found it pretty enjoyable! My only real issue is the track layout is a little too hokey imo. If they want Charlotte to be a quasi road course facility I wish they could find a way for them to leave the...

Johali's Rate the Xfinity race --- Roval

6 Better than I expected. I'm pro rain road racing but still not a fan of rovals. Overall, despite the monsoon and goofy track layout the actual racing was better than Dega or Daytona pack debacles...

Xfinity RACE thread --- Charlotte Roval

I watched some of it, enough to tune back and forth. It was honestly better than I thought knowing the forecast going. I'm still not a fan of rovals in general but there's a lot of info from racing in rain like that which can be used moving forward. I felt bad for the drivers having to race in...

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

Martinsville was suppose to be a night race in May this year. I had tickets to go but obviously that didn't come about. I'm not sure if I'm going to renew if it is indeed an April 10th night race. I was there 3 years ago when it snowed in late March....... So far for 2021 I've lost Kentucky and...

    Bonehead of the Week: Talladega

ESPN likes to micromanage and force their influence on sports through their own media. They were the reason for the jaques debris cautions. They basically tried to make sure all their races had an "exciting ending" and transitioned perfectly to their Sunday night 6 PM SportsCenter. I still wish...

    Bonehead of the Week: Talladega

The issue is Fox and NBC are basically polar opposites. Fox is always trying to push the envelope with things while NBC has traditionally been very conservative with their sports coverage relative to the other networks dating back to the Dick Ebersol days.

    Bonehead of the Week: Talladega

Taping a race using VHS tapes is/was similar to DVR'ing. Variables in weather, event length, "network news interruptions" could cost you the end, if not more, of the race. I think NASCAR is a priority for NBC but network news and the NFL will always carry significant weight. I've seen this...

    Bonehead of the Week: Talladega

The drivers. If they could figure out how to race without wrecking everything else is irrelevant imo... NBC handles golf and NASCAR the same exact way. If either sport goes past much past the 6 PM ET frame and it's not a major event it gets bumped to a NBC secondary channel. CBS does this too...

Johali's Rate the cup race --- Talladega

2 A bunch of hot garbage. I'd love to go to Talladega one day but I wouldn't pay a penny in this current era. The driving errors/decision making is embarrassing at Dega and Daytona anymore imo. There needs to be consequences. That's why I have so much respect for IndyCar drivers.....

    Cup RACE thread --- Talladega

LOL...can't even race for 10th place or whatever without wrecking...this is embarrassing...

    Cup RACE thread --- Talladega

The driving ability at Daytona and Talladega has become so comically bad. I just can't fathom how they can't race without wrecking...

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

Since Texas, Charlotte and Atlanta are all very similar looking I could see Bruton messing with the tri-oval/dogleg area. That main seating area is not going to be rebuilt again so they'd keep the track design with that in mind. I could see anything from a 1.5 mile Michiganish track to a little...

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

Well Road America during the Fourth of July weekend has a great sound to it! I'd like to see this turn into a NASCAR/IndyCar double-header to preserve a "special" aspect to the holiday weekend. At the end of the day, still rather Daytona. For tradition and the fact it makes for a far too random...

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

Agree on the finale distance! I also still want to see a true road course in the chase! Overall I think NASCAR did a good of balancing old and new. My two biggest complaints are Bristol on dirt and Indy's road course. Those two things completely contradict the reason NASCAR races at either...

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

I'm still bummed about the decision to run Bristol as a dirt track. But it shows the influence of TV and sponsors... Next year we have the Olympics so they'll be two prime summer weekends back open in 2022. Keep an eye on those... NASCAR has suddenly become more "Southerncentric" again! As a...

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

I still thought a couple of weeknight races in the summer would have done well attendance/rating wise in a more "normal" climate. Places like Chicago and/or Kentucky would have been great candidates to hang on as weeknight venues due their close proximity to large metro areas. * I forgot to...

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

Running on the road course defeats the purpose of running at Indy imo. I remember when Formula 1 said they were running a NEW road course at Indy and everyone was pumped because it was at Indy. Then the race happened and everyone realized it was nothing more than a mediocre roval AT Indianapolis...

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

The reason I say that is Pocono would be the only double-header next year after a lot of people thought double-headers would become common. Maintaining the uniqueness is a HUGE opportunity for the track given how high ticket/camping demand was this year. They just need fans to attend in 2022 to...
