Sorry, but I would put Dan Gurneys contributions to motorsports above SVG's any day of the week in any era. SVG puts eyes on the screen and butts in the seats at road courses and that is a great good for business thing that drivers like Dan Gurney helped to build.

Why is that? It only takes one race win to hit the jackpot. It's worth millions to do so. But compared to other ringer types, SVG is head and shoulders above their skill level. I don't think anybody knew the degree of that when he was brought over. It was a gamble that has paid off handsomely.

Other than Dan Gurney from the early days that's it. Nascar developed their own drivers who could drive their equipment quite well. SVG is good for the sport but he has to unlearn some things to be at least decent on ovals. SVG is 26th in the points, but he is a driver like so many other road...

Pretty sure that is why Zilisch will be driving for Trackhouse next year in Cup with RedBull as a major sponsor.
