I had to look it up. Baseball writers who vote for the hall are not required to make their votes public. That will work against Pete Rose. If they were made public and subject to popular critique it would be harder for them to keep him out. You might have figured out by now that my opinion...

I'm guessing the baseball writers will vote him down the first time so they can stroke their egos. After that first year all bets are off. Especially if the votes are made public.

Pete's stats and records speak for themselves. No need to debate those. The only question is whether or not the gambling should keep him out forever. He certainly earned it on the field.

I was. I remember a Chicago radio guy trying to sell the Orioles play-by-play guy on the benefits of going 0-162. He said if they would be remembered forever but if they won a game or two they would be just another team that sucked. Still makes me chuckle.

I was watching the Pacers last night. When I saw they were down 7 with less than a minute I told my wife they wouldn't be able to do this a second time. Happy to be wrong!
