Will Dodge Ever Return to Nascar?

Yeah, I notice that most of these pickup truck drivers are what we used to call "Urban Cowboys". They strut around with their dolled up truck that never sees any actual work. Some of these "real men" don't even know how to change a flat tire... not that they'd do it themselves if they did know...

NC track closes, cites abuse from racers

Yeah, another thing that baffles me is how some people want others to put in a lot of effort for them but don't want to return the favor. I’ve run up against this in charitable organizations and commercial businesses too. When they get jealous because somebody else earned something by making an...

    Thought for Today

"It not that it takes all kinds of people to make the world go 'round, it's just that there's all kinds of people". Don't know exactly where that came from. I first heard it from a coworker who credited to his uncle.

Will Dodge Ever Return to Nascar?

Electric vehicles are not the end of the world. No amount of misinformation or exaggeration will change that. Some people should honestly research issues before they spout off and embarrass themselves...

NC track closes, cites abuse from racers

I live in the general area of this track, and I have attended it (grandstands) many times over the years. I even tried to race there... I say "tried" because we found out first hand how "Friendship" didn't really mean that it was a friendly place to race at as much as it was a place where you...

Can (and Should) NASCAR's Culture Of Cheating Change?

It's not so much a "culture of rampant cheating" as it is human nature (at least of racers) striving to get an edge to feed their competitive nature. It's an addictive rush when you beat others, amplified by winning races and receiving accolades and trophies and money. Do well enough and you...

    NEW 2022 gas prices

Paid $4.05 per gallon yesterday at a BP station. To get that price I use credit card points - can get 50 cents off per gallon. Only works at BP stations due to their agreement with my credit card issuer.

Mars Association of Stock Car Racing

I don't mind science fiction that includes wild concepts and fantasized technology, but I prefer science fiction that has some basis in known science and technology so I can at least fathom how the wild concepts and fantasized technology came about. So my suggestions might be a little mundane...

    Bruton Smith

While I did not always agree with his methods, I appreciated Bruton Smith and his efforts for the sport. He was a true asset. I was (and still am) very impressed with his attitude towards the racers themselves - even us little guys. I used to crew chief on a Legends car (racing the Summer...

    Hydrogen as a fuel

Audio on my PC is broken, so I couldn't get the whole message. Was wondering if this video mentions anything about: 1) building a hydrogen refueling infrastructure. 2) recertifying or replacing the tanks. 3) durability / maintainability of system components.

    More Practice…

True that practice was trimmed years ago - but until this year they were using a car that they were already very familiar with.

    More Practice…

As BobbyFord (the original poster on this thread) quoted NBC Sports, “The Cup Series has seen a 72.7% increase in number of cautions for accidents and spins in races this season compared to last year through the first 15 events.”

    More Practice…

Originally, the justification for cutting practice was "to save the teams money" (travel costs, wear and tear on equipment, labor costs)... not so sure that they're "saving" enough money to pay for wrecked cars...

    Silly Season 2023

Costs of racing, and how some teams have more money than others or how some teams spend their money, has been a continual complaint for as long as I've been around racing (since the 1960s). And it's at all levels - not just NASCAR. Recently I was looking at some of my old Stock Car Racing...

    new nascar

There wouldn't be any "good ol' days" if things didn't change... although some of us might remember those "good ol' days" as being better than they really were. I know some people who complain about today's racing and wish for "the good ol' days" who forget that they complained during the same...

Out of the way! NASCAR contenders want traffic to pull aside

It's the playoff format - for making some guys feel too superior... That quote about permitting everyone to race is ridiculous, if you study it just a little. Not everybody is permitted - cars still have to qualify in based upon speed if there are more entries than starting spots. (When there...

Out of the way! NASCAR contenders want traffic to pull aside

It's a rare year that some self-righteous driver or team tries to blame their own failures upon somebody else. Somebody can't get past a car that hasn't been a consistent contender, so they whine and say something stupid about those drivers "not respecting" them... as if they're not showing...
