    BK Racing uh oh

Part of having a charter is probably that you are required to participate, otherwise: fines, most likely. Now could BK be represented by a completely different organization, say a Californian-based road racer doing a one-off that is officially the BK #23, but otherwise has no connection and he...

    2018 F1 News Thread

Michael seems smart that in he takes the Penske approach of if Andretti Autosport is going to do something, someone else is going to pay for it. Who's paying for Andretti to do F1 if it's not Honda?

    BK Racing uh oh

Surprised NASCAR has let it get this far. Still wouldn't bet against some anonymous caretaker overbidding to keep the franchise value high, and then that person selling the charter behind closed doors in the offseason.

    2018 IndyCar news/misc. stuff

He was always going to get into Indycar, especially when his dad works for Andretti, plus it's looking like he'll win the Indy Lights series title and that's a 3-race schedule there. With the news of McLaren maybe partnering with Andretti for 2019, it may have to be another team on the grid now...

All-Star race experimentation receives mostly high marks

If NASCAR thinks the problem with their racing is the cars have too much horsepower, why not run a V6?

Lessons Learned from Memorial Day Weekend Racing

Think the high heat played a role. All the racers around Carb Day when they knew what the weekend weather would look like thought the track was going to be so slick that passing would be less. And then you still had guys like Rossi that were passing guys at will on the outside at times. That guy...

Tomac is guaranteed to finish 3rd. Can't go up, can't go down.

    Matt Kenseth

Part of me thinks it could just be the penny pincher boss agreeing to put in a bigger name that a sponsor wanted/asked for in the car. But if I were Bayne - who's not had terribly much discussion in this thread - I better be going balls to the wall in all my remaining dates. If he's dropped by...

    Underperforming & Heroic Drivers

Of the 8 races so far, Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick have 5 of the wins and 4 of the runners-up, plus a third. At least one of them has finished top 3 in every race this season except Daytona, which we all know is a cluster that has no bearing on the rest of the season. Sure, two of the best...

    2018 IndyCar news/misc. stuff

I did that a couple years ago for the Indy 500. Issue on doing that chart on a place like Long Beach it removes referential data like if you're the driver that's 2nd or 3rd in a conga line on a long green flag run, you're getting penalized in time on a track that's not the easiest to make a...

    2018 IndyCar news/misc. stuff

Well, Long Beach, St. Petersburg, Belle Isle, and Toronto do. (Montreal does of course but that's F1.) The list of street course events that disappeared after a couple years never to host a race again is pretty long. We're not privy to financial information but I imagine running one is...

    F1: Round 3 China

Too much money involved in Formula 1 for everyone to be honest. Look at the drivers and team managers as no different than politicians really.

IndyCar: 44th Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach

Andretti Autosport just owned this race. Rossi was clearly the best all weekend. Veach took 4th. Marco took a quiet 6th. And Hunter-Reay would've had a podium if not for 3 to 4 incidents that happened to occur to him. I wish they could figure out letting the leaders pit so what happened to...

New rules for the All-Star race

If NASCAR's solution to auto racing is heavier use of the restrictor plate, why can't I just run a V6?

    Harvick and the pit guns

Pit gun solution. Any team is allowed to bring their own pit guns. But anyone else is allowed to buy ones that were used by any team in a race weekend for a low NASCAR mandated price. Think of it as claiming rules for pit equipment.

    IndyCar: Phoenix Grand Prix

Thought the race was kind of split into two parts. The first part, no one could pass anybody. The second part, Rossi and Wickens and a few others were passing people left and right. Unfortunately for Rossi, he started a lap down. But he was back in the pack, drove up, passed the leader to get...

    2018 Supercross Season

He's going to win but the season has been such a downer due to injuries. No disrespect to Brayton, but he's 3rd in points. There's been only 7 guys that have been in every main event, 2 of which are Vince Friese and Chad Reed. Cole Seely has not raced the last 5 rounds and is still 10th in...

    Take yourself back to 2013...

That's a pretty sarcastic way of putting it but I have to say I feel the same way. The championship used to be based on a cumulative performance metric. It no longer is. We can argue about the points system back then but the guy that finished 1st could make a legitimate claim to "I was the...
