I know a few farmers that have the problem with people coming onto their property to cut down a tree for Christmas. They just don't want to get it started though. Of course some of the trees that were cut were cedar trees.

I disagree. If a serious warning would have been given at least some of the planes would have been able to get off and got in the way of the incoming planes. More important though was that the ships would have been able to button up, start getting steam up and get their defenses ready. Still...
