    SILLY SEASON 2018

Well, when you don't keep pace with the competition you fall behind and it's hard to catch up especially when you aren't willing to spend and grow.

Maybe he was brought in to oversee Dodge switch.

I bet SF ends up on Bowyer's car unless there is a figure large enough for RPM to forgive that contract clause if it did exist.

What would the old points system look like right now?

If anybody other than Truex, Kyle Busch or Kyle Larson wins the title it is a joke simple as that. Kes, Elliott, and Johnson have all had good years, but the others have been slightly better no denying it.

    SILLY SEASON 2018

Indeed, that much we agree on about Murstien. Bringing in an investor w/o a sports background is dangerous. Jack makes it work with Fenway Group because they understood exactly what they had bought into since baseball and racing share business characteristics.

    SILLY SEASON 2018

Well has not Allenaba in this very thread said that Murstien is looking to sell his half of the company? Look as of now, they don't have a shop for next year and short of going back to Level Cross they will have to partner with someone my bet that is RCR and thus one year with Chevy. I will...

    SILLY SEASON 2018

RPM has to switch to survive. They are caught in a no-win situation at present they don't have the resources to run up front on their own. You don't run up front you can't better your resources, one hand feeds the other. At Ford, RPM is an afterthought. At best 4th team, and counting cars...

Ford has too many teams as it is, maybe FRM moves up a spot when RPM departs?

    Richard Petty

I would say it was more like '88-92 he wasn't competitive. Finished top 10 in points in 1987. Last top-five finish was 1988 Richmond. A race he might have if he had logged a protest due to a scoring snafu, but in true King fashion, he didn't want to win that way.

It's as simple as this, he is the Babe Ruth of NASCAR. The was NASCAR before and there was NASCAR after his driving days and they were two totally different sports.

It was Tom Higgins and his contemporaries in the print media that hung the moniker on him after win 100 in '69 I believe is how the story went.

The France family wouldn't have their empire w/o the drivers. No driver did more to advance the sport from point A to B than RP.

This is coming from a guy that still considers him one of my idols. But... 1, Set the standard for fan treatment, everybody else follows his example. 2 7 Daytona 500s --That is by far his most impressive achievement, yes he lucked into a couple but he also lost a couple he shouldn't have. 3...
