    How about Pastrana?

Yea, that led to him having to do some tricky driving while 3-wide. Was impressed with how well he handled that, even made a charge back to the front iirc. I think a lot of those guys were trying to hook up with teammates too. If not for the tandem drafting maybe we would have had more luck...

I was impressed by the fans helping each other out, goes to show how much NASCAR fans care for one another. I've had strangers offer me beer and something to eat at every race I've ever gone to (excluding the beer when I was a kid of course).

    How about Pastrana?

Oh yea I totally understand, I'd be iffy about trying to make a run with a rookie too. I'm just saying if someone would have taken the gamble they could have gone to the front with him. His car was a hot rod in the draft and was even holding its own by itself at a few points. :)

Sounds good, I like pulling for underdogs anyway! Hopefully the hernia will be okay, I'm living with it for now until I get health insurance. Going to my GP soon to hopefully get something for the pain which I can live with during the day but it is waking me up at night. For now I have some...

Haha man I hear you, just ain't been able to follow racing like I used it. :( Getting some things sorted out, about to move to a new apartment with a new room mates. Taking a new job, taking out loans, going back to to school......busy busy busy. Plus I got a hernia! >< Going to...

Ah okay, I got you. Good to know I'll try to make sure and make my picks before every race this year. Think I got in last year and fell out after like four races. Got busy with life. :)

I'll watch the videos later, I saw the replays on TV and I may be wrong which I'm always willing to admit. Those gates are really trouble though, the worse wrecks I've ever seen both involved drivers running into a gate at high speed.

    Some doctors blow my mind

Doctors are pill pushers these days man, you really gotta watch them. It's very hard to find a good GP, once you do I suggest you stick with them for as long as you can. Sorry to hear about your troubles, hope everything goes well for you. By the way I don't know how it works where you live...

    Daytona 500 Weather

It's Florida, there is a 50% chance of rain everyday. I'm hoping for a night race too though, my Dad had to work today. If they started after 5pm he'd probably get to watch most of it.

Even though I think you point is valid to an extent from what I saw the tire cleared the fence proper. I don't think the fence would have stopped it even if the car wasn't crashing into it at the same time. I just think they aren't really tall enough at the moment and don't extent far enough...

Yea, I think one went through the fence and the other flew over, plus a lot of little stuff ended up in the crowd as well. I was worried about all that hot fluid coming out of the car, I sure hope no one got hit with steam or oil.. First thing I thought of when I heard about all those people...

Got a link that explains this or know any more information yourself? I'm interested because I never knew, how long have they been doing this? You're right too, I've never seen a car fall apart like his did and I'm sure I never will again. It is amazing that he could walk away from a crash...

    How about Pastrana?

I agree, at the end there were several times where if someone would have pushed him they could have taken the lead as a pair. It seemed like every time that got going whoever was pushing him would pull out and pass or look for another person to draft with. No one want to go with him. At...

A lot of people like begin close to the action, but I agree you could move people back. For the record I've sat on the front road at a super speedway right behind the thing and I didn't feel too bad about it. I knew it was a risk but free tickets are free tickets. :) BTW consider the shot...

If you're talking about one behind the other... I don't think that would work to be honest. We need something a bit higher to contain flyjng tires and such. The problem is if they go higher with the current designs it'll become too weak to stop a car from coming straight through. Plus smaller...

I posted a video in one of the threads that showed a car hitting the cross over at Bristol. It hit the wall head on and just fell into pieces, very scary. There can always be improvements, NASCAR learned from these type of things and makes improvements. I was one of the guys that moaned about...

I'm not saying the block was a smart move on his part, but it's easy to judge when you're watching from outside of the car. Maybe he thought he was clear and realized after it was too late to correct. He was trying to win and at the time he felt blocking was the only way to do it. Normally if...
