The chicane is pretty popular and there's a tv screen across from us so we don't miss anything. Used to sit at the s/f line and really enjoyed the pit stops directly in front of us.
Usually take a walk around the course at some point to watch but too hot this time. The general admission hill is...
I didn't agree with the penalty on Scott Dixon. Seeing it right in front of me at the race and then watching on tv was the same. Newgarden comes out right in front of Dixon and then doesn't go fast enough. If they had been racing each other a bit beforehand I would've agreed with the penalty...
Watched her improve lap times by a couple of seconds and that was it. Other drivers improved much more as practice went along. You could see everyone was a bit quicker into the "chicane" and back out.
Many years ago I met him and got an autograph. I remember I was excited about it as I didn't expect to ever see him in person and he was a very nice guy.
Yeah, I've been on the fence about that holding the yellow deal. If I put myself in the drivers seat of the guy sitting in the gravel I'd be pissed. You're not doing me any favors!
I would've guessed he was older than that but he lasted longer than some have leading a life like he did. Good for him. He has provided me with so much great listening pleasure and I will continue to enjoy it.
All good points. I had forgotten about the concerts and HyVee being the promoter. Tuning in on the tv tends to leave you uneducated about all the behind-the-scenes stuff that lead up to a successful event.
You know drag racing is fast but it always looks faster when they crash. Maybe it's the thought process as you watch it happen that you want it to stop. I know it is for me. Glad the injuries weren't as severe as it could've been for Shawn Reed.
I saw a 40 Ford like that at an outdoor car show many years ago. The guy started it up and there was no sound coming out of the exhaust pipe. Engine and exhaust was unbelievably quiet.
I don't understand the failure at Iowa. Haven't read anything about it but I suppose there are reasons.
As a fan watching on tv I thought it was great.
