There are all sorts of NASCAR fans and there is room under the tent for us all. The type of fan you are is a personal choice. I’ll admit I don’t understand your fandom but it doesn’t make your choice any less valid than anyone else’s.

In this instance would you have thrown the black flag on the 1, 3, 20, 23 & 24 and then impose fines and such after the race?

The manufacturer started losing relevance for me in the late 80’s. All I see today are cars that are pretty much spec so I can’t find a reason to be invested. It’s certainly different from rivalries between Dale & Bill or Dale & Rusty.

I agree. I think what @LewTheShoe proposed would lead to other types of manipulation so you would just be trading one set of problems for another.

I was never bothered by what you described or when the championship was won with a few races left. I liked it better than the lottery system today. This my personal preference and I understand that others think differently.

I don’t recall any fans clamoring for the playoffs or the CoT. In fact it could be argued that those 2 things are responsible for many fans exiting the series.
