Both Phoenix races are 312 miles (312 laps) but the "500" designation as in the Shriners Children 500 comes from it being approximately five hundred kilometers (502.115 to be precise). imo, coming up with a somewhat fabricated reason to call it a "500" is a stretch if not laughable.

For some reason I thought it was 300 laps (375 miles) which is still a relatively short race. Additionally, the "championship" race at Phoenix is ridiculously short (312 laps / 312 miles). Oh, but wait, the Phoenix race earlier in the season is a "500" right ? :XXROFL:

The Briscoe pick by @Truex_rox is ineligible due to the driver having been previously used for the spring Phoenix race. :owquitit: If only Hamlin and that Jones boy could take each other out of the race, @aunty dive and @ol'whatshisname just might be able to move up a few spots.
