Isn’t any points system made up? Point systems don’t occur organically and the good Lord above doesn’t come to racing executives to bestow a point system. At some point, someone sits down with a pen and paper and tries to create a fair way to determine a champion.

I really don’t care what point system we use. I love stock car racing and I love watching teams strategize around the systems they’re given.

The playoffs weren’t that difficult to follow. I’m certain that any “serious fan” can do basic math. The format was flawed and was a bit convoluted but it wasn’t difficult.

I do expect complaints about the point system to start up again once the honeymoon period expires.

I agree. You can learn how to drive a race car in a simulator but you can’t learn how to be a racer. There are way too many intangibles that you need to pick up that a sim just can’t give you.

Whatever the conditions are

You can learn a lot but there’s also no accountability for being a jackass in the simulator. A lot of these young guys have a jackass problem. Honest question: To what extent do they simulate the conditions of being in the car? I am talking heat and g forces.

I don't think it's going out on a limb to say that open wheel dirt is not the grassroots of stock car racing, a related but different discipline. We need more support for dirt and asphalt late model racing. You can learn transferable skills in open wheel dirt but for those of us who like racing...
