2021 Pennzoil 400 Pre Race Thread

The irony is that in the Xfinity broadcast Saturday, Almirola (though it did sound like he was joking) mentioned how he was a respectful driver and would never "chop" someone etc when talking to Kurt.

    Marcus Lemonis isn't messing around

Hell I drive a 10 year old F150, for 15K Ill drive my happy ass to Vegas and start/park (I can maybe make it in around 30 hours). My chihuahua should make a decent enough crew chief. :XXROFL: :bounce::punkrocke:whoopee::moon:

    Marcus Lemonis isn't messing around

Always great to see regardless of who it is. It can only benefit the series as a whole.

    William Byron wins

Honestly yes its still too early to tell, but who else not named KB (and especially at that age) has Fugle had THAT much success with in the trucks. The chemistry is there.

    William Byron wins

One of the reasons I say they need around 3-5 years.

    William Byron wins

Amazing truck stats given his age and experience at the time. Also just how calm and smooth he seemed in the final laps at Homestead during his Xfinity championship. Also I immediately thought back to how good Byron has been in several races and could have won (Sonoma just for example), but had...

    William Byron wins

I always have been a fan and believer in him since watching his 7 truck wins. I've also always said and believe that with him or really any young driver it takes them about 3-5 years to figure it out. Also if nothing else just from hearing them on the radio with Chad telling Byron he "you...

    Cup RACE thread --- Homestead

Yes I do think Reddick could have caught him. But seeing how much trouble Reddick had passing Truex etc I believe whatever Byron was saving would have made it pretty tough for him to pass if he got there.

    Cup RACE thread --- Homestead

Byron did similar when building his huge lead to start with and could have definitely found some speed by moving to wall if he had to. He had the cushion to not have to do so and protect his car. Not necessarily saying it would have been enough.

    Cup RACE thread --- Homestead

I actually think with 4-5 second lead there Byron was saving a little something if Reddick would have caught him. He clearly had the best car.

    Cup RACE thread --- Homestead

But how many steps back should we be when lighting it? Could we lose one?

    Chase Elliott

Some people may interpret this as giving Chase an advantage getting to test at a new track, given how much better he already is at road courses than everyone else anyway. However I think it makes sense to have the clear best road racer in the series testing to get the best/most accurate results.

Seems possible. I just hesitate to judge or speculate etc either way usually until atleast around April every year, after they have done a few non-plate )and now non-road course) races. Homestead should be a good measure, as it seems to be a great track for drivers with dirt backgrounds etc.

    Bristol Dirt Race

As a matter of fact in reference to my drunken experiences, a very funny story from Bristol. I have trouble with my back etc and sometimes cannot walk long distances. Anyway it was a rainout one night at Bristol (they raced the next day and I had to go home). We had VIP passes for the booth...

    Bristol Dirt Race

Off topic I'm actually from WV also, and have been to Beckley Speedway a lot, though it had lots of ownership changes etc. It was the first race I was ever at and is an amazing track, underrated. I've seen 410 sprints there a few times (they were never a regular class there), super fast. I...

I honor of Davey Allisons Birthday

While I've watched some old races, I wasn't old enough to actually see him race. My uncle (who has met a LOT of drivers had VIP etc due to his job and knows quite a bit about nascar - he even gave the pole award and had dinner with JG) however, saw him a lot and always said he was the best he...

Should we go ahead and replace him with Ty? :headbang: :owquitit:

    Bristol Dirt Race

Yes, and I wasn't meaning to say it to measure them etc, just that so many people do, that it will be interesting seeing how they hold up.

    Christopher Bell Appreciation Thread

I'm not necessarily a hater either because I respect all of the competitors, just not really a fan. In fact that goes back to even growing up in the 90's, I just never could be a Gibbs fan for some reason.
