Bonehead of the week: Vegas II

My bonehead of the week are the Hendrick cars that made that awful pit strategy at the end of stage 2. Took winning cars from the front and put them in the back of the pack where they couldn't pass anybody.

    Bonehead of the week: Nashville

The Bonehead of the Week goes to the NSS folks that seem to be ill-prepared for traffic and parking. There were long lines to the track, part of which had apps telling people to get off the wrong exit. Then when people finally made it to the parking areas, it was cash only. I always carry some...

Bonehead of the week: Sonoma-Mid Ohio

Wow, there are so many candidates from this week. Brad K not being all the way in his pit box that may have cost him a top 5 finish. NASCAR for throwing a caution way too soon when the 38 spun late in the race. Ryan Preece for coming back onto the track with a pack of cars bearing down on him...

    Bonehead of the week: Darlington

We've gone from weeks of having no real boneheads to several contenders this week. The first candidate is Joe Graf Jr. who wrecked plenty of cars, and his own, in the Xfinity race. Then, there's Noah Gragson's team for getting DQed from the race. We go to Sunday and Ross Chastain's crew chief...

    Bonehead of the week: Talladega

We haven't done a bonehead in a few weeks, probably not many deserving people in some lackluster races. So here is one for this week. My bonehead is for the #5 team for leaving the warming shield in the car that allowed the car to overheat in 5 laps and then blow up. What an expensive mistake.

    Bonehead of the week: Atlanta

I think it will be hard to find anyone other than Noah Gragson for Bonhead of the Week. I don't know what happened between he and Hemric. But purposely backing into his car on pit road during a live pit stop is unacceptable.

    Ganassi fined, suspended one race

Chip Ganassi has been fined and suspended for violating NASCAR's Covid-19 policy by having unauthorized people in the restricted area. NASCAR owner Chip Ganassi suspended for violating COVID-19 protocols (usatoday.com)

    Daytona: wrecking isn't racing

Before I saw this piece, I have been thinking what NASCAR can do to prevent these huge crashes at Daytona and Talladega. The owners are about cutting costs where they can because of today's climate. But when you look at the races at these two tracks, there is millions of dollars of equipment...

World of Outlaws going to Bristol in April

As expected, the World of Outlaws (late models and sprint cars) will be going to Bristol. The late models and open wheels will be there April 8-10 and the sprint cars will be there April 22-24. Looks like I'm going to be one busy person in March and April...

    Lee Roy Rumley

Hall of fame dirt late model car owner Lee Roy Rumley passed away on Sunday at the age of 84. He had some lung issues for a few years. His #6 competed all across the country with a number of top drivers taking turns driving his car through the years. His latest driver was Kyle Larson.

Bonehead of the week: Martinsville II

I had to think long and hard about this one for this week. Since there are no obvious ones, I'm going with the entire #4 team. Brought a car they couldn't get better, a crew chief that waited until the end of the race to tell the driver where he was with the points, and the driver for waiting...

Bonehead of the week: Daytona road course

Full disclaimer, I only saw the Cup race. Having said that, my bonehead goes to NBC for not showing any post-race action. Nothing. No winner's interview. Their crappy NBC News was more important.

Bonehead of the week: Michigan-Road America

My bonehead of the week is the tow truck people that couldn't attach a hook to Jesse Little's car when he got stuck in a gravel pit. They were using an open hook attached to a 3400lb race car stuck in several inches of gravel. The hook kept popping off. It took them at least 5 minutes to get it...

    Bonehead of the week: Homestead

No real obvious candidates from what I saw (which was only the Sunday races). Ryan Newman running into the back of Logano might be considered. But for me, it was Harrison Burton in Sunday's Xfinity race. He has to change tires late in the race and decides since he's faster than everyone else, he...

Bonehead of the week: Darlington I

Hate to start of the restart of the season with a bonehead. But there were several worthy candidates. My pick is Ricky Stenhouse for wrecking on the first lap after a 10-week layoff, especially on a corner that's not suited for 3 or 4 wide racing like turn 2.

How many of you were offended that Kyle Larson said Chili Bowl win bigger than Daytona 500?

After winning Saturday's Chili Bowl midget race, Kyle Larson said that win was and would be bigger than winning the Daytona 500. Many of the NASCAR shills like Mikey Waltrip and others jumped on to social media at the horror of such a statement. I dare say a number of fans said the same thing.

    Bonehead of the week: Homestead

I have tri-choices for this week's bonehead. It's the crews of the 3 teams that didn't win the championship. Truex's team for putting the tires on the wrong side of the car, the Hamlin crew guy that put too much tape on the grill, and Childers for leaving Harvick out too long on the last stop.

Bonehead of the week: Phoneix 2

I sort of have 2 boneheads for this week. Well, one might apply to last week. The first is Bubba Wallace for being dumb enough to admit to spinning on purpose last week at Texas, then challenging NASCAR to offer some sort of punishment, which they did. This is a carry over from last week. For...

    Bonehead of the week: Kentucky

My bonehead of the week is Natalie Decker and acting like a child by taking another driver's hat and throwing it onto the ground after an on-track incident.
