    NASCAR and the Coronavirus

As of This morning, the US death toll among the known infected was .03% and 75% of those deaths were in one place.

    dale jr download

For those of you who poo poo my views on the RTA, listen to the first few minutes of this week's show and hear Jr. espouse VERY SIMILAR views to my own about it. Basically, he has no use for it. Also, he mentions that in response to the good reviews on the low downforce short track package...

Racer goes airborne lands on pace car

The first ARCA race I ever worked, a driver (Scott Baker) was killed by sliding sideways into an excavator tire "barrier" in the infield at Toledo Speedway. Happened RIGHT in front of me.

    NASCAR - Television Ratings Thread

Current plate racing takes the concept to the absurd extreme in my opinion, but the overwhelming popularity of it, in both ratings and attendance is a pretty good indicator that MOST fans want close competition and LOT of passing.

    NASCAR - Television Ratings Thread

I don't know how much it matters, but for MOST fans, it's an indication of how good the race was. If I wanted to watch cars follow each other for three hours, I'd set up a lawn chair next to the interstate.

Racer goes airborne lands on pace car

A good reminder to track owners and sanctioning bodies. There isn't a place at a race track that a wrecking car can't end up. Plan and protect accordingly. :)

    Crazy Points Standings after Phoenix

It's so early it doesn't mean much, but I think if somebody would have predicted that there would be four "Penske" cars, three HMS cars and no JGR cars in the top ten, or that Bowman would have a win and Kyle, Martin, Kevin and Brad wouldn't have one after four races, I think people would think...

    Crazy Points Standings after Phoenix

I would laugh my ass off for a week if that were the case at the end of the season! :)

    Alan Gustufson-Bonehead of the Week

I've watched 99.5% of all the races Alan has been on the box for, and yes I know strategy isn't always his strongest suit. No, I haven't listened to all the races he's called, but when I have, I don't recall anything like that standing out to me. Regardless, however he does it, nobody should...

    Alan Gustufson-Bonehead of the Week

I don't know, but I sure miss Kim Crosby! Possibly the best looking woman to ever strap into a race car.

    Alan Gustufson-Bonehead of the Week

I get butthurt when my favorite team throws away a legitimate shot to win a race on a call that I KNEW was the wrong call the second they made it. Is that not what fans do? There are football fans still bent all out of shape about Pete Carroll's goal line play call in the Super Bowl against...

    Alan Gustufson-Bonehead of the Week

Well I am. SOMEBODY has to be the final authority, and it should be and usually IS the crew chief. That's a BIG part of the job and a big reason why some really good guys don't last long as crew chiefs. A couple of years back, Indiana University had a great guy as the basketball coach. Nice...

    Alan Gustufson-Bonehead of the Week

Well, evidently if you make a typo in a header, you can't go back and fix it, even if its inside the time window. And yes, even successful accomplished crew chiefs make mistakes. Yesterday was a BIG one.

    Alan Gustufson-Bonehead of the Week

The problem with letting the driver make the call is he doesn't see the WHOLE picture. He only knows what his car is doing, what laps times he's running, etc. He doesn't know how many cars are on the lead lap, what the tires coming off the car look like, lots of things going on that he can't...

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

First off, if this race was worth a damn, the ratings and attendance numbers would be just fine on Sunday afternoon. And yes, I know TV is paying the bills and they are paying it whether anybody watches it or not, which they mostly won't.

    Alan Gustufson-Bonehead of the Week

I don't know too many drivers that can get away with that.

Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

Which says more about the race than the time slot.

    Alan Gustufson-Bonehead of the Week

Alan is the BOSS. What he says goes. You ask the driver his opinion. You are under no obligation to follow it. I worked for a guy that had 600 Cup starts as a driver and he was ALWAYS telling me drivers don't know anything.......

    Alan Gustufson-Bonehead of the Week

Alan absolutely should have overruled Chase. That's why you have a crew chief. Did they learn NOTHING from the first time they tried it? Don't get me wrong, I love Alan, but today will not go down as one of his better days.
