What did you think of the Martinsville call?

Years ago at Martinsville, the Penske drivers manipulated the restarts when they had P1 and P2. The driver leading the preferred inside lane would slow the line to allow the other Penske car to take the lead from the outside lane. Other multi car teams started to do that at a variety of tracks...

What did you think of the Martinsville call?

Martinsville has a history of shenanigans. If Bell didn't accelerate and tried to get off the wall sooner his move would be OK with NASCAR.

If Kyle Larson is the greatest driver in the world

Larson is one of the best drivers IMO. He runs on the edge all the time and that causes him to make mistakes. I'm impressed with his team because they are able to keep his car running well enough to recover from his mistakes.

Enough Is Enough Full Season Championship.

Before the playoff system when the season long championship was used, the championship was usually down to 2-3 drivers by September. Those drivers started "points racing", their goal was to finish ahead of the other drivers with a chance at the championship.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

I was thinking about a couple old sayings about NASCAR. NASCAR is a benevolent dictator. I think the benevolent part might have changed. To make a small fortune in NASCAR, start with a big fortune. Racing has always required sponsors. It used to be the local gas station or a wealthy...

    Cup RACE thread --- Roval

Pretty good race, Larson deserved the win. I was skeptical when they made the roval but it has produced some good racing. The Reddick story in this race was exciting - I was cheering for him.

Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway Pre-Race Thread

I remember the race where Terry Labonte was wrecked by Earnhardt on the last lap and he still won. In another Bristol race, Earnhardt wrecked Labonte on the last lap again and Earnhardt won the race. I think it was the only time Earnhardt was loudly booed.

Cup RACE thread --- Watkins Glen

When the GWC started it produced some exciting finishes. Now it gives drivers too many chances to move the deserving winner out of the way. (The deserving driver survived the GWC mess yesterday).

    Watkins Glenn Pre-Race Thread

When I first started watching NASCAR (decades ago), I didn't like the road courses, I thought NASCAR should stick to ovals. Now the road courses are among my favorite tracks.

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Aside from a guarantee to qualify for a race I don't know what else the charter does for teams. What is the difference between running a race with or without a charter?

Didn't Jr's #8 have Darlington stripes included in his paint job?

    Gotta Revise This Points System

The winner of the playoffs gets the NASCAR championship and the trophy. The driver with the most points from the normal points system is the driver's champion.

    Gotta Revise This Points System

The top 16 in points should make the playoffs. When a car is eliminated from the playoffs they should return to the normal points system; this gives teams a chance to improve their standing during the last third of the season.

NASCAR 2024 - BOLD Prediction Thread

Allow virtualbalboa's prediction in the final vote and we will decide then.

    Ryan Newman Appreciation Thread

I looked up Newman's pole wins after Bell got 6 in 2023, Ryan also got 6 in one season. I knew he had a lot (51 Cup poles) which is why I made a bold prediction for a driver getting 8 poles this year (it doesn't look like that will happen).

Bonehead of the Race: Richmond II

    Cup RACE thread --- Richmond

Dillon's finish is the extreme result of the green-while-checker, and NASCAR gives drivers 3 chances to do it. I've noticed over the years that a driver who deserves to win a race often looses it in a G-W-C. Moving a a car out of the way or pinching a car into the wall seem to be more acceptable...

    Kyle Busch to RCR

With few exceptions, every driver goes through a transition when they loose their main ride. Some drivers like Bill Elliot and Kurt Busch showed how a good driver can improve the results for a lesser team. Kyle showed that when he started at RCR. But it is a team sport and that aspect needs...

All Electric NASCAR Series on the Horizon

The battery is the weak link. Any race that tests the range of the battery will become a fuel power millage race, they won't waste power on passing until the end of the race. I'm guessing, but running a race car at high speed will drain the battery pretty quick. I think a hybrid might work...

    2024 Next Gen Car

Back in the day when the cars were off the ground, the trailing car had the advantage by drafting to the lead car and easily passing. Maybe try getting the cars off the ground a bit.
