    Xfinity Series 2025

I don't like awarding points for leading laps or fastest lap. The point of the race is to win it or get the highest finish possible, so that's what should earn points in my opinion. If you want to award a point for something else, it should be for winning the pole. That comes the day before the...

NASCAR Pick 'Em 2025 - re: A Necessary Change to the Game

I prefer the groups as a rough - very rough - guide to who is on the gas versus who is on the bench. Then I do my own fine tuning... for example I'd kick Haley up to the B group and move Preece down to C group... YMMV.

The Clash at Bowman Grey Pre-Race Thread.

I'll watch it, but my expectations are really low. It's like putting a bunch of Thoroughbred race horses on a county fair merry-go-round and firing the starter's pistol. Thoroughbreds and Nascars need a track that allows them to stretch their legs and... Go Fast! Just my opinion....

    Corey LaJoie: Please Explain.

Yeah, I see now that @virtualbalboa uses misuses that definition. It's a pity that so many race fans are 'all ate up' by the fact that some kids have parents that are into racing and expose their children to racing... while others don't. WTF dude, why the disparaging labels for everyday...

    Legacy to Toyota

I also have a deep interest in the supply of elite-level race teams, as they are the heart and soul of the sport of NASCAR. Last I heard, JJ and family had moved to London, his kids were attending English schools, and Jimmie & Chandra were enjoying the lifestyle perks of being mostly retired. I...

    Corey LaJoie: Please Explain.

I'm not a Corey LaJoie fan, although I understand there are many on social media who are. Also, I'm not a Corey LaJoie hater, although there are plenty of those as well. I am curious about the nepotism label you have applied. You're saying he was hired for Cup Series rides *because* he is...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Throughout this thread, I have seen many posts defending NASCAR's position in this case by pointing out the plaintiffs were not forced to participate in the sport and/or the business of stock car racing. Not just posts by @Conover, but also several others in this thread who are adamantly in...

Toyota Subsidiary Fined 1.6 BILLION For Emission And Fuel Economy Regulation Fraud. (Sorry Rev)

That's lame, @Revman. Really very, very lame. It's bad enough that Toyota/Gibbs have been caught many times cheating in NASCAR, including in the NextGen era, including in the garage and on the track. It's much worse that Toyota is cheating on environmental non-compliance. I am disappointed in...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

I'd like to believe NASCAR might do that now, but I'm not optimistic about it. And the reason is that the judge's "smackdown" concerns only the preliminary injunction skirmish, not the actual merits of the antitrust case. Jim France wants to punish 23XI and FRM for having the audacity to...

    NASCAR 2025 BOLD Prediction Game

Kyle Larson will *not* start the World 600 at Charlotte (includes other sponsor-paid race names, because money talks and nothing is sacred to Nascar except money).

At least one guy thinks this lawsuit will have an important and long-lasting impact on stock car racing. Matt Weaver is following the case closely and reporting on it for Sportsnaut.com

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

At tomorrow's hearing on Nascar's motion to dismiss the lawsuit, I doubt that much will happen to move this deal forward. It's my understanding that Nascar's argument is... even if the judge *assumes* all Nascar actions alleged by 23XI and FRM are true, there *still* is no violation of the...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

I don't think Nascar's arguments about the SHR charters will have enough horsepower to get the job done (i.e. win the appeal). From the beginning, 23XI and FRM were willing to sign the 2025 charter contracts if Nascar would strike the Section 10.3 release clause. Now the judge has said that...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

Judge Bell... “Plaintiffs have established that they are likely to succeed on their claims that 1) NASCAR has monopoly power in the market for premier stock car racing and 2) to the extent that NASCAR’s 2025 Charter Agreement includes a release that bars teams from asserting the antitrust...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

It's been widely reported that Nascar brass assured Joe Custer and Jerry Freeze that the charter sales would be approved once the transfer window opened, after the racing season ended. And there is ample precedent, after eight years of charter sales being approved during each off-season. But...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

No, the sanctioning body / owner of the Cup Series has never disclosed revenues, expenses, or profits. ISC used to be publicly traded, and also SMI, so track ownership data is available. But never the real financial mother lode, i.e. ownership of the Cup series. We do know Nascar historically...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

I think there is *a lot* left over for profit. The problem is that it is all getting sucked into a black hole that is the France family coffers in Daytona Beach, Florida. Meanwhile, the team owners (i.e. the actual racers that put on the show every week) have suffered more than 50% attrition...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

I keep hearing that the charters were given for free. It comes mainly from those who support the France family in this litigation, and feel the team owners should be happy with the business model they have always had. The statement is often used to imply that the car owners arguments are...

23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

That was Gene's plan, but it seems that Nascar has a different plan. Each chartered car is required to enter and compete in all 38 races, so the implication seems to be that Haas will be forced to operate all three teams next year, or forfeit the charters due to breech of contract. I wonder if...
