Okay, Daytona is over. Not much has been made of the 0 Ride Height rule change, but many CC's are talking about it. Should be interesting to see who has it all figured out, and gets the early advantage. Some CC's are saying that the whole set up box is now open. Who do you think will be out of the box early with this, and why?

Gonna be interesting this weekend with the new set ups. How aggressive do you go? Can't wait to hear the CC's talk about what they are doing. I know they don't talk much, but I am hoping we get a feel for the thinking.

Chad Knaus because he'll push the barrier until someone fines him & MWR because they're a team of dirty rotten cheaters.

I'm going to go the other way and suggest that HMS will not have an advantage over or "figure it out" sooner than the other teams. HMS is good at pushing the envelope in terms of the gray area of a rule. I think this 0 ride height rule removes the gray area, making it more even for all of the teams.

I pity the poor drivers that dont hit the set up right, this track will eat them alive. The possibility for a green track on Sunday will make it even tougher to get it right, the exit of turn 4 will be a scrapyard

Clearly NOT MWR.

I honestly believe JGR figured out early how to get the spoiler out of the air down the straights to gain speed. It seemed like HMS and some Fords got it right for the race.

I'm just guessing, but reducing drag on the straights is the biggest way to gain an advantage at a plate track, and the spoiler is a huge drag on speeds. You need it in the turns, but it holds you back in the straights.

You might be on to something there. JGR cars were fast all week at Daytona.

0 right height rule? ...No ride height rule... as in there is no rule regarding ride height. I know I know same thing but the way you say it like that makes it seems like something its not. :p Just sayin'...

maybe we will see more passing because some teams will be quite a bit better. the last spring race at phoenix was probably one of the worst races of the year. Track position was so critical. That was the one dale jr probably should have won but got beat off pit road by carl edwards. The pit crew decided the race.

Front end height at the start of cup practice. they raised them up about an inch over the course of the weekend. some teams raised them a lot more. This one was more or less dragging on the ground on the left side

Wait a freakin' minute! Did my man Kyle18fan just post a pic of Kenseth? WTF? Pic very much appreciated and illustrative of the new set ups. Good stuff, but are you feeling okay my friend? ;)

It was the best picture I had to show you the ride height Rev. My feelings havent changed regarding Kyles so called "team mates" :D

Alright man. Thanks for that. You nailed that pic. Exactly what I was hoping to see. Honestly, I think the 4 has it nailed, and it suits his driving style. Hendrick is and will be fine. JGR/MWR is not there IMO. Thursday in Vegas will be crucial to get things sorted out.

Recent cup races at Phoenix have all been rather drab, at least the ones with the gen-6 anyway. I much prefer watching the Nationwide and trucks, this weekend the Mexican series was the best race by far. If the cup guys start racing like that the tv ratings will not be an issue

Didn't mind the racing this weekend. I find it totally fascinating that Delana's wife was so dominant when the rest of SHR was lost. Jimmie is quick yet not dominant again. You could give that team lawnmowers to race and they would still contend. My TRD Toyotas are not where I want them to be. Can't wait for this weekend to get it sorted out. Fords are there. Just love this sport. Never a bad race weekend.

The mile and a halves will tell the story

I agree. Given the freak that Daytona is and the struggles JGR had last fall with the traditional ride height, it is probably premature to suggest that JGR is behind. However, this weekend is crucial.

Nobody is saying they are behind, were just saying that they are not the dominant powerhouse they were predicted to be by "trained eyes".

Aw man, you are taking that post out of context. I got what he meant. In fact, I was referring to the theme of my posts. I was suggesting that they may be behind. On second thought, this weekend will be a more accurate reflection of what we have. We don't need a win, but we need something more than what we saw in Phoenix. From everything I have been hearing from the drivers, I think the 4 will be a force.

The 4 was the fastest in pre season testing at Charlotte too... I just don't get why the other SHR cars aren't as fast. Maybe the new rules just suit Harvick driving style.. I remember hearing Joey say that with the new rules it felt more like a nationwide car and that it fit with his driving style more because you can get into it through the corner more. Could be the same thing with Harvick.

Either the 4 team just got really lucky and happened upon the magic setup or they really got stuff figured out, another weeks wait to find out I guess

Kyle is a good nationwide driver, the 18 didnt look like it fit his style at all :(

Could just be they haven't figured it out yet. If it is true I would expect Kyle to win quite a bit once they do.

Im hoping the former.. they can't be the fastest every week. Im looking forward to this weekend to see how the tRD guys are really doing. So far so good for this Joey fan though. I was surprised the Fords had some stuff figured out so quick considering last year. I was hoping it would happen but figured HMS and JGR would have done it first again. At least they can keep up now... just need some wins to prove it.

I wouldn't underestimate the impact of Rodney Childers on the 4 team. I remember hearing how devastated MWR was losing him last year . He may well be the next big deal crew chief . And I think MWR teams are feeling the loss.

I know it's early but those Penske Fords have impressed me so far this season so I'm going to go with them and JGR.

He was hand-picked by Harvick so Kevin was certainly high on him to begin with. As for MWR, if it weren't for Bowyer's flip in the Duel you wouldn't even be able to tell they've shown up this season. Childers is a smart guy.

I am usually the one to blame a crew chief when stuff aint right, I have no problem giving them credit when stuff goes good. Wouldnt doubt it a bit if Childers provided the magic
