The 2007 Daytona 500 seemed like it was yeterday, but it's already been ten years. In that race we saw a side by side controversy for the win between the legend and now hall of famer Mark Martin and the Winner Kevin Harvick. Here some interesting notes from how much the Drivers and teams have changed.
We had 61 entrants for the race!
Only 14 drivers entered who are still full time cup drivers!
Only Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin are in the same cars. With the same sponsors.
Only Jimmie has the exact same combination of crew chief and manufacture.
These are amongst the countless other changes to the cars/chase/rules and sport overall.
I feel like circa 2007 was a transitional period and we're going to be in a similar time over the next few years.
It's amazing how fast time moves on and how much changes in the sport over ten years and to imagine what it will look like ten years from now.
