NEW YORK (AP) -- A New York City dog has undergone emergency surgery to remove more than 100 pennies from his stomach.
The New York Daily News reports that a Jack Russell terrier named Jack swallowed 111 pennies last week and quickly became ill.
The 13-year-old pooch's owner rushed him to a Manhattan veterinarian for emergency surgery.
That's when dog doctors put Jack under anesthesia and methodically removed all 111 coins. The zinc from the coins could be lethal.
The dog's owner told the newspaper his best friend is back to his normal self, driving him crazy.

I saw that earlier today, Mike, and just wondered where on Earth could the dog find that many pennies. But, when I realized it was a Jack Russell, I understood. Those dogs get into EVERYTHING imaginable, and then find some more.

Just glad the dog is OK.

Can't say this dog doesn't have any cents. Looks like he would have returned the change eventually, just glad he's ok. My neighbor had a dog once that got into her laundry and ate all he childrens socks. It was kinda funny because you could walk around and everywhere the dog took a crap it had a sock in it.

Too bad they couldn't train him to do it the other way around. Like an automated pooper scooper.
