Ryan Newmans winning car at T.M.S. was 40 lbs. light during post race inspection, and NASCAR officials couldn't figure out why. Turns out that two radiator hose clamps had broke during the race and the radiator had run dry. Crew chief Matt Borland estimated that Newman could have run five more laps at best. So after the team put the fluids back into the #12 and filled it with gas the car was within the accepted weight range. (Jayski reports)

That is kinda odd, but if they filled it up and it was ok then i think its fair. But filled it up with gas? Do they always do that before they weight the winning car?

Ryan sure was lucky that the hose clamps didn't break any sooner than they did.

The minimum weight is with full fluids, so yes the gas tank needs to be filled.

I gotta believe that this is a ploy by the #12 team, ya figure out how manylaps you can run iwth without coolant and rig a valve to dump it and voila!! Forty pounds lighter and faster!! :D :D :D

hmmmm, perhaps 2 tyers and a fluid dumping system is the way to go.

That's a good one HS!

Yeh good one HS>>>>>> highly doubt that was intentional, what if a caution came on they would have been screwed! :p

Man, why couldnt Aarons Rent have sponsored this race so it was the Arrons 512 or 505 or some stupid thing like that. At least junior mighta won...

But that is pretty lucky for Newman
