According to Jayski's, Jr. got called to the big red trailer after the Pennsylvania 500, to learn that NASCAR will not tolerate his 143 mph pit road speed while trying to get out of the pits when the caution came out.
I knew that's what the drive-thru was for but I didn't know it was for 143.
Pit road speed at Pocono is 55.
Yikes.

They held him a lap for it.........not just a drive through. That's what put him two laps down. :)

unsafe driving. I can understand a little speeding, but that's a lot

143 mph? what was he thinking? did he think they wouldnt notice that?

I hate agreeing with an 8 car decision :) , however, look at it this way- he was going to be a lap down if he played it straight, if he sped the rulebook says a driver will be forced to make a stop-and-go or go to the end of the longest line on the restart. In this case, in typical NASCAR fashion, they played the safety card (even though pit road was empty except the 8 car) and made Junior come in and held him for a lap to put him a lap down.

...if it had been any other driver, they probably would have fined him and yada yada. But hell, who knows, as slow as NASCAR has been on the money penalties something could come out today. If there were other cars on pit road I could see the reaction, but Junior was the only car in, you can't blame him or Hmeil with the season he's had- I know I would've tried it. :)

Did you type that with a straight face?!? Are you serious? You think NASCAR is tougher on Junior? Please.

The lap penalty was for running the stop sign at the end of pit road --- trying to beat the pace car.

Junior even acknowledged it was stupid of him to run that fast.

Lil'E was pitting behind the start-finish line. Once the pace car crossed the start-finish line, and he hadn't even started moving at that point, I thought that put him a lap down. Speeding thru the pits was one penalty. Running the stop sign would have been another. I think the penalty was called fairly.

The only thing good about this race was Lil'E finished behind Kyle Petty. Any time he finishes behind Kyle its a good race... ;)

yeah no matter what his point is he sould have known that he would have got cought
