17 contestants try to make NASCAR team

I watched the last series and quite enjoyed it . Saw Darrell Wallace Jr . and the others . Really good show.

I like the idea of this program, especially from a PR standpoint. However, Danica is setting the case for women in racing back 50 years. You can't make a strong case to teams and fans when the person who's been hyped up as the only woman who can win in NASCAR is no better in her third year than her first.

If Johanna Long was in Danica's car, people would be talking about how great Johanna is and that maybe women can succeed in this sport. But instead, we've got Danica and the belief that it's more about marketing than talent.

Andy, people are going to talk no matter what you, me or anyone else says. We either buy into the hype or we don't but it's our own choice.

Danica hasn't set women back 50 years, and the reverse sensationalism is as bad as any other hype. I wished she would do more needed nascar development in preparation to run cup but that doesn't she mean she is a negative force. You can't measure such things but it is reasonable to believe that girls of various ages have been inspired to believe they can try as well by her example.

There is nothing wrong with her kind of feminism efforts either, a woman can be pretty and competent at the same time. That seems basic, and like an idea that most folks should appreciate. Opportunity while still allowing us to be comfortable with our biology.

End of the day I still am critical of a path that pursues the highest level without the adequate building blocks, but that's not setting her contemporaries 50 years back.
