For anyone that might get masn (mid atlantic sports network), they're showng the 1995 pepsi 400 right now. Back when espn had a great broadcast team.

Believe it or not, there look to be quite a few empty seats. Nascar's popularity hadn't exploded yet, so all the new stands that were being but weren't filling up quite yet.

Hi buddy I'm about 30 minutes away right now.

The only empty seats I see are the new seats on the backstretch (perhaps they weren't done yet :idunno: or weren't avaliable :idunno:)

Looks so much different than the NASCAR of today though.

ahhh the 1995 pepsi 400. man i remember that one when Marlin was in the midst of his mid 90's plate dominance in that Morgan McLure car. i believe he and Gordon led about the same amount of laps of that race and Gordon prevailed over Marlin in the end with Sr back in third. Jeff Gordon's first points win at Daytona. this image below has nothing to do with that race, it's Dale Sr from i think 1996 testing in Japan...

Wasn't it still a day race back then? Hard to convince people to come watch a race with temps in the 90's.

day race for sure, the pepsi use to start at 11:am because of the hot florida sun...

I've got a new HDTV. IHRA/ARCA/ASA DVDs should look great in them when they come in.

See if you can get them in Blue Ray. That is a fantastic medium.

Oh, and since you're in Md and heading to Fl I assume you'll be coming down I95. I'm just a few miles off the Interstate. Since you're already heading that way and have a place to stay, buying me a ticket shouldnt' cost you too much... :D

The wife and I just got our HDTV and Blueray player.....Ive heard the cars almost look 3D...Football looks great on it, cant wait to see the 500 on it.

Just remember the best cable HD is 1080i. Some shows are 720i or 720p. BluRay is 1080p. It is fantastic.

But I may be dropping cable. AT&T has just run U-Verse to my neighborhood. It's cheaper than Time Warner and has 75 HD channels where TWC is only offering 39. Their HD DVR can record 4 programs at the same time and you can pause a program in 1 room and finish watching from another room. That sounds pretty neat. It is fiber to the street. I wish it were fiber to the home. I don't know what their broadcast signal, 720 or 1080 is tho. And, yes I can tell the difference.

The good news is my wife wants to take my 42 inch Samsung to the bedroom. She thinks it's too small for the den. :D

ROFL!!! We were thinking of upgrading but we have this huge oak entertainment center and the opening for the TV is "just so much" so we're wondering if we can fit a 32" in there or not. They look so small in the stores compared to the big old hunk of TV we have that's only a 27 in. If we only had a bigger house and could unload this oak monstrosity which doesn't even hold everything anymore with all the things we have on tape and DVD.

It seems like the 20" we have in the bedroom now is huge compared to the 13" we used to have. All a matter of perspective, eh? :D
