Maybe they hope to pick up viewers after the football game ends and the end of the race is going on.

I don't see why NASCAR doesn't run cup races late Saturday, rain day Sunday.

There's still a 4pm game, and unlike NASCAR, when football says 1:05 or 4:05 start time, they mean it. NASCAR says 2pm start time and it really means 2:23.

NASCAR's ratings are gonna hit a record low this year because of (a) online video streaming and (b) later start times.

So many people DVR these days, it hardly seems worth advertising on TV anymore.

I don't pay any attention to the NFL till after the racing season has ended. That's one of the benefits of not having a home team in the Greater LA area. The Chargers are the closest thing we have.

Go Bolts!! :beerbang:

You have Lucas Oil Stadium though. That's nice. A couple weeks ago I was at the Lucas race shop in Brownsburg and the engraved chrome shovel that Forrest Lucas used for the ground breaking for the stadium is in a glass case hanging on the wall. There is also a mural of the stadium on a wall along with a lot of pic's showing the ground breaking untill the first kickoff. If you ever get a chance you should stop by there and check it out.:)

I have been there many times but never for a Colts game. I typically watch one football game a year, the super bowl.

I have never been inside of the stadium yet. It seems like everytime that I go by it I am in the race hauler, and it is either late at night, or early in the morning. But one of these days I would like to stop and check it out.

They moved the Chase races back to 2:15, 3:15 and 7:45(Charlotte) to compete with the NFL, even though those games are deep in the 2nd.

We all know, and I think they do too, that they will never be able to compete with the NFL. If they want to at least get better ratings, put the race on network television, especially the Chase races. I don't care what anyone says, races on cable do not garner the audience numbers that network television does. As much as I dislike FOX and their race broadcasts, nothing else compares.

FOX (even with Ol' DW and his rabies-infested rodent pal Digger) puts on a better broadcast than ABC, IMO. I really like the announce team on ABC/ESPN better, but there are just toooo many damn commercials when ABC carries a race!!

Really? I was paying attention to the little screen during NASCAR Nonstop... you know, something FOX and TNT don't offer.

1 cup race vs 15 NFL games makes it nearly impossible for nascar to match the total viewers the NFL draws.

I'm surprised the ratings went up but that's good! As far as Nascar VS NFL goes Nascar will NEVER be competition for the NFL. You can take even the two least popular teams and they will still pull in 3 times the viewers any Nascar race will. Don't get me wrong Nascar is my favorite sport but if anyone thinks they are competition to the NFL you need a cat scan asap because you have mental problems.

Here in AZ, as far as ratings go, the race was a distant 5th behind the four NFL games and the AZ D'backs game. It garnered a 2.4 local rating.

I'm finding myself watching the race late Sunday after the NBC NFL game. ONLY because the race gives football score updates, whereas the NFL games provide NO updates on the NASCAR race.

I'd like to see the Chase races on Friday nights. It will never happen, but that's what I would prefer. Successive NASCAR Chase races on Sat. nights could affect the local dirt tracks, and I wouldn't want to see that. But then again, that's what dvrs are for.

There is one reason the races are now starting at 2:00. And that's because ESPN wants it's NFL pre-game show to go all the way up to kickoff time for the early games. If the races still started at 1:00, their pre-game show would have to leave the air at 12:30 or even 12:00. They are not going to do that with the amount of money they have paid to expand that show and carry more content.

Cause Saturday night is when you run shine. At least that's the way it used to be. :)

Dover television ratings up from 2011 - Sunday's race generated a 3.0 rating (vs. 2.8 last season)

Both Chase races that weren't rained out have seen increased ratings compared to last year. They both started one hour later than in '10.

I am a Texans fan and wish Manning was playing this year. I swear if the Colts draft Luck to be Manning's predecessor I will be pissed!

Tampa Bay Bucs knocked off the Colts last night 24-17 it was a ugly game but the Colts are still in the running for a First round draft pick ;)

While I'm glad to see the ratings increase (though I think it has more to do with Jr being in the Chase and JJ not winning), it kind of sucks because NASCAR's going to use this as their rationale to have races start later next year.

Enjoy these words when they race at Dover, Pocono and Watkins Glen next year: "The race has been called due to darkness."

If FOX's NFL coverage didn't suck a big one, I'd be watching that. Only reason I put on the race is because "NFL on FOX" is a ridiculously infuriating commercial fest.
