both these kids have no talent but rich families who fund their rides. This fight is so funny it looks almost fake.

They are both done with racing and will soon be making their WWE debut. Notice how Townley pulls a DDT? Also looks as if they are talking out what is going to happen next in the fight.

I don't believe there is correspondence between fightin' skills and racin' skills. And for the sake of these guys careers, I hope there isn't.

My inner hockey ref is coming out watching this crappy fight. Are you two gonna keep humpin' each other or are ya gonna fight?

That was actually a pretty good fight. Looked like a typical MMA fight to be honest.
Yeah must be some real bad asses here with such critical eyes of true fighting techniques. Funny how everyone is talking about how much they looked like wusses. I bet90% have never been in a scrap themselves.

They watched John Cena and Randy Orton on WWE Raw.

As for the comments about "girl fights" that I've seen... y'all ain't seen a real girl fight if you think they're wusses  They go for the kill.

NHL fights are just like the WWE, honestly.

Friday night sissy fights

Surprised they had video of it. Didn't think they covered the trucks anymore.

They both were like, "okay, we've looked tough for a second....where's the official to break us up?"

Was about as pathetic a fight as I've ever seen. I kind of think that once it started both were hoping somebody would come to their rescue. I'd hate to think of all the cracks people are taking at them for their fighting skills.

Oh, so they probably have never even SEEN a real fight, let alone been in one....I agree on that.

I also agree most of the time these guys (all of them just about, Harvick especially) go after each other with the expectation someone will break it up immediately. I think that was the case here. It looked like Townley wanted to be the aggressor in hopes it was broke up soon and Gallager was just doing what he could to protect himself.

In what sense?
Any "pro" sport that relies on fights to entertain the fans isn't a sport. Olympic and college hockey are more valid sports than the pro version. Don't give me this the refs can't break it up until they hit the ice crap either. NFL refs break up fights with WAY bigger and more padded men involved.

I'd still rather see drivers take out their frustrations on each other's faces in the pits instead of on track at 185, ala Kenseth and JWT. If it sells tickets on the side then great.

To show how way off you are, I give you this:

http://www.hockeyfights.com/stats/

.28 fights per game the last 2 seasons. Only 23% of games even have them. yet teams still sell out their arenas and the league is steadily climbing back to the level of popularity it saw pre-lockout.

LOL! That whole site's existence supports my position.....
Fighting has always been a part of hockey. It's a brutally tough sport, more than any other outside of arguably rugby. There is nothing though that supports the notion that people only watch for fights. Those that say they do are not fans of sport and I could not care less if they watch or not. I go to roughly 23 or so Tampa Bay Lightning games a season, and have yet to ever hear anyone say "I'm just here for the fights."

I also don't think I need to explain why there isn't much fighting in the Olympics or college, even though it does happen. Btw...the same guys that fight in the "non-sport" NHL are the same ones that play in the Olympics...and those angel college children are the same ones that go on to fight in the NHL years later. Weird.

It's not the participants decision about the fighting. I'm sure the Olympians and collegiate athletes want to kick an opposing players ass quit often and even try time to time. But the NHL allows that **** because they know most don't appreciate the sport for what it is and it gets them attention from some of those.

Hopin JWT gets some big ass fine or suspension.

Garbage, Gallagher deserves to be suspended for putting a Full Bowyer on Townley earlier in the race. The only way to answer that is a bulldozing followed by a beating.

Suspended. Right.

And a bulldozing and a beating. The machismo is strong in this one.

NASCAR won't stop people from emulating Bowyer's tactics. As Jeff Gordon so elegantly demonstrated 3.5 years ago, it's up to the drivers to self-police such on-track antics.

People have been suspended for grievious acts of stupidity. That didn't qualify ... not even close.

As for the "fight", if that's what somebody wants to call self-policing, I'd guess it had zero effect. Looked like a couple of 11 year old kids in the playground arguing about marbles.

Bob Pockrass...
NASCAR fined John Wes Townley $15,000 and Spencer Gallagher $12,500 for their fight during the Camping World Truck Series race Saturday at Gateway Motorsports Park.

Wow, that's like 5 grand per awkward flail.

I don't think ones pugilistic prowess is a factor in the success or failure of a driving career. A willingness to stand up for yourself is important, IMO, but that is not the same as being a skilled fighter. In fact. the only case I can remember of fighting style harming a career is when Nelson Piquet Jr. kicked Brian Scott in the balls, and promptly descended off the Nascar radar of young up-and-coming talent. And I believe there was cause-and-effect in that case.

I know it was technically a fight seeing how punches were thrown and landed, but it seem a lot more like a hugging match than a fight.

I like how they put a bigger fine on the retaliatory striker than the original aggressor. And keep in mind how much Truck races actually pay, family money or no that's going to be a chunk out of their wallets.

Perhaps they'll both think twice before doing that again.
