I think (hope) that this is really up for grabs. I went with Jimmie Johnson, but I really think that at least 15 drivers could win the championship with only a minimum of luck falling their way.

You have so many good choices up there. I will vote after the 26th race.

I voted for Newman. I think he has the best driving stlye for the new system.

I voted for Jimmie Johnson (not my favorite driver) because they have the Chevy package and he seems to be very level headed and smooth on the track. Just my early guess; Ryan Newman (my fav.) will win the most races again this year. And there is no way "Other" can win the Championship he just is not that good!

U shouldn't bash driver "other" like that

Of course I'm going with that Guy in the fire and flames #24 Chevy Monte Carlo with Dupont sponsorship, with Robbie loomis as the CC,U know the Guy  ps:He also has 4 Cups and 64 wins, does that help? :D

I'm going with Harvick, no one else had more consistency in the second half of the season, well besides Kenseth in 2003, but that I wont get into. Kevin had many top 5s close to the end of the 03 season and if Todd Berrier came to the team alot earlier than Talladega, they wouldve wound up alot higher in points standings.

I wonder who had the testicular fortitude to vote for 'Other'

"testicular fortitude to vote for 'Other' " Phrase of the year winner!!!

I'm sticking with Ryan, even though he has kind of fallen apart at the end of the year both times.

Tony Stewart is my pick!
Not sure why but I think he will win again!

Well I guess it all depends on the NEW points system to be announced Tuesday(1-20-04) around 9:30am . Speed TV is to cary live for those of us who are there to see what happens. This could jumble or totally mess things up. Oh well I'll wait and see.

Maybe it was just hormones (male OR female). :p

I voted for Jimmie Johnson, I think he was too close this year to screw up next year.

Agreed. This is Jimmie's year.

I also think he'll capitalized on the 'playoff.'

(we all know he would have won this year under the new rules...)

I 'm changing my pick to Tony Stewart. With this system in place and as good as Tony is at the end of the year, it's not unfeasible to think he could end up going after Dale and Richard.

Gotta go with Jimmie Johnson this year. I think he's the guy to watch.

I think Jeff gordon will win it.

But what do I know? I go into every year thinking Jeff will win the Cup and I have only been right 4 times so far ^_^

Seriously the new playoff format they are using will definitely alter things a lot. Who is running best at the end of the year and who runs well at those particular tracks that decide the winner will be very important.

I still like Jeff's chances though as that team seems to be the best at adapting to things on the fly. ;)

I still say that a road course should be scheduled among those final 10 races ;) Let's see which play-off drivers are the contenders and not just pretenders.

I think that all winners of the first 26 point races should also be automatically included in the Cup chase, regardless if They didn't make the Top 10 in point standings or the -400 point cut-off deal ;)

:EEEEK: What if a road course ringer finally wins a race?

That's a good question,as They're not Cup regulars perhaps it could be amended to all regular Cup winners over the first 26 point events? ^_^ I was really referring to the drivers that are in the Series week in and week out.Of course what if a driver wins race #4 of the season, but then is sidelined by injury in week #25?Since this driver couldn't continue in the play-offs,even though eligible,I;d like to see the replacement driver of that car # go into the play-off's for Him,don't know how kosher that would be ;)

well i think its going to come down to ryan newman, kevin harvick, and kurt busch are going to have the inside track and as much as i hate to say it, i think buschy is going to win it....
