I have to disagree with Gateway being dropped from the schedule. While the IRL doesn't need to have 30+ races a year like NASCAR, I don't see the harm in having a few more races. Gateway is also in one of the bigger metropolition areas on the schedule, and with the IRL wanting to gain popularity, they need to keep races at the bigger areas. Every race will be broadcast live, according to the article, so that means, you won't have to watch a tape of the Montegi race, like this year.

I heard that 2005 they are going to add Dover International Raceway again

...I think that dropping Gateway is a mistake.

The racing was improving as was the fans attending the race.

Gateway was more of a driver & car set-up track which placed more emphasis on the driver, different from the 'pedal-to-the-metal' high-bank high-horsepower tracks such as Texas, Chicago & KC.

I don't buy into the claim of over-saturation either....the midwest is where most of the IRL fans are to begin with....the more the merrier, means I'll attend more races if they're all close. Nice to see that the IRL has grown to the point where they are now in a position to DROP ovals.

That does stink that Gateway is not back on the schedual! What is one more race gonna hurt!( well the budget of a team to run 1 more race, but besides that) nothing.
The do need 20 races or so. 2005 I think they will get that with the 2 or 3 RC and i bet they will get Vegas back.

Is the Milw race replacing Gateway? I'm looking forward to the Milw race since we don't plan on renewing our Chicagoland tix's.

Dover Int'l does own Gateway...maybe it makes up for taking the date away.

Yes. Did you see the Cart race there this year? That was a pretty good race and the IRL always puts on a better show than Cart.
