One of my buddies is buying this for a racecar hauler. I took it for a spirited test drive, inspected the hell out of it inside and out, and it's solid. No torn leather, carpet is clean, tires are half-life, only 2 previous owners. $21,220 after TTL & Registration. Has the 6.0 Powerstroke, dana 60 front/dana 80 rear, 130K miles. Carfax, OASIS are both clear, EGR valve was done in 2009, everything else was routine maintenance. Has a B&W gooseneck on it already (gonna be pulling a 34 ft trailer with 2 racecars in it)

The GVWR/GAWR is underrated for safety- 6000 front, 9000 rear, 13000 GVW. The dana 80 is factory rated at a 11,500 GAWR.

I may not have any use for a truck that size, but I'm still envious.

I seem to recall the 6.0L trucks being fairly prone to turbo issues though? Or an I mistaken? Either way, while I've never owned a diesel, those who have tell me if it's not a Cummins, Powerstroke is the way to go. I at least know for certain I'd rather have an International branded engine than Isuzu. :)

From what i researched, they redesigned the 6.0 for 2005, because of injector failures and other issues. This truck was built in Oct 2005, so I'm on good assumption that it has the newer generation 6'er.

The only good engine built by IH and put in a Ford was the 7.3 You couldn't kill that motor. There are some still around hard a work. But they were sluggish in response.

Navistar's answer was the 6.0 which had all kinds of problems. I didn't drive one long enough to be able to tell.

Then they came out with the 6.4 which is a POS. I threw a rod in one last year. All sorts of problems and plagued with exhaust filter troubles.
Ford would have made even more money last year if it weren't for that motor.

I am now driving a 2011 F-350 with the new 6.7 motor and that thing is awesome. Best truck I have ever driven with all the features and comfort.

Time will tell if the 6.7 holds up but it is a Ford engineered and built motor and I think they got it right this time.

I pull a 40 ft. 2-car trailer and I will let you know how it goes in the future. I just took it on its maiden voyage and will put about 7700 miles on it over the next 17 days. So far, I am really pleased with this truck.

I wish your friend well with the 6.0. Looks like a nice truck.

A better choice than the 6.4, anyway.

Looks nice but i wouldn't buy a diesel unless it had a Cummins in it, while I'm not big on the Mopar Trannies the Cummins I have is just getting warmed up with 200k on it. Solid as a Rock, love it.

Spot on Guido...could'nt have said it better myself...05-06 were the years of reconing between International/Ford...It got ugly back then with lawsuits and Ford refusing to pay for the engines....

That's why we're on hopes that the late 05 engine has the fixes. I had the dealer pull up the OASIS report and it was nice and clear, so time will tell....

I prefer my BOWTIE version.....

I've driven the Chevy's GMC's and the Fords over the last 12 years and I lean towards the Ford.

I took a new Chevy 3500 to Arkansas and Kansas a couple of weeks ago and it was really nice but I still like the new Ford just a bit better.

This new 6.7L motor is so quiet, it sounds more like a gas motor than a diesel when it is at idle. And the truck sits lower than the Chevy which makes getting in and out easier as well as hooking up a trailer a bit easier too.

Can't say anything about the Dodge as I have never driven one with the Cummins but I will say that most of them I have been near have been noisy.

This one has the deisel clatter, but it's not too terribly bad. Still from the pre-pilot injection days, but not as bad as the old Cummins.

bet that's a hell of a profit during winter.

When I lived in the west suburbs of Chicago, I could make $150.00-$200.00 per hour with the salting included, depending on the time, traffic, and snowfall amount...100% commercial accts...Nothing like plowing in a balz out blizzard in a t-shirt and sneakers..lol..

So the truck is now in florida. My friend's dad flew into DFW on standby, Showed him our car, took him to LenMar, then we took delivery of the truck.

Drove it STRAIGHT THROUGH from DFW to Melbourne, Florida. 1250 miles in 21 hours.

June 21:
Left Austin at 9:30
Arrived in DFW at 10:30
Left Mansfield at 2PM
Dallas Tx, 3 PM
Terrel Tx 3:23PM
Shreveport LA 5:22 PM
Alexanderia, LA 7:24 PM
Baton Rouge, LA 9:43 PM
Louisiana/Miss. State line 11:26 PM

June 22
Alabama 1:16 AM
Alabama/FL state line- 2:14 AM
Jacksonville FL, 8:36 AM
Daytona International Speedway, 10:08 AM
Melbourne, FL 11:22 AM

1250 miles in 21.5 hours, averaging 58 MPH at 14 MPG.

He slept most of the day, then the two of them went up to Orlando, his dad hopped the plain to Anchorage (he's a UPS pilot) at 9:00 PM eastern, and my friend put an extra 200 miles on it before finally getting home at 10:30 PM eastern.

14 MPG @ 50 gallons per tank, 700 miles range. He filled it up when he left Dallas, and only one other time, I'm guessing in Mississippi or Alabama.

?? Aftermarket tank or add-on...cause the stock factory tank only holds 38 gal..??...14 mpg w/o a trailer is LOW for a diesel running summertime fuel

No, it was a calculated 12-14 by his dad, who drove it to FL.

I believe the rear axle is a Dana 80...Ford gave 3 options for ratios in those...3.73...4.10...4.30...You might be able to tell from a VIN code #...14 mpg hwy with no trailer tells me it could be the 4.30

Dana 80, 4.10 stamped on the cover
