DAYTONA BEACH - Kevin Harvick walked into his wife's office yesterday and saw her watching a YouTube clip of last year's Daytona 500.

"It still gives you chills to watch it," Harvick said, of the race he won, crossing the finish line just ahead of Mark Martin as cars wrecked behind him.

Harvick spoke to the media at Daytona International Speedway after his morning test on Monday, joking about politics and reflecting on his year as the Daytona 500 winner. He tested near the bottom of the field in both his No. 29 cars, 46th out of 50 in the 29A and 49th out of 50 in the 29B.

Being back at Daytona International Speedway, on the track where he won the historic race, took Harvick back emotionally. He said he didn't know how big of a deal it was to win the Daytona 500 until he did it.

But the season soured for Harvick after its opening race.

After winning the Daytona 500, Harvick slipped.

His next top five finish came four races later when he placed fourth in the Food City 500. He didn't win another race all season and finished 10th in driver points.

"Every time we had a good day, something went wrong," Harvick said. "And every time we had a bad day, it got worse." His success last season came as an owner.

Ron Hornaday won the Craftsman truck series championship in the No. 33 truck for Kevin Harvick Inc. Harvick said he liked Hornaday's positive attitude and tried to incorporate that with his team during the offseason. But it wasn't all serious reflection for Harvick.

The Presidential campaigns have apparently been on Harvick's mind lately ever since he recently discovered MSNBC. He interrupted a question about Dale Earnhardt, Jr. midway through the press conference.

"I thought you were going to ask me about politics," Harvick said. "Something interesting."

Harvick was then asked in jest if he liked Hillary Clinton.

"No," Harvick said. "I don't want my President to cry. Do you want your President to cry?"

When asked which presidential candidate he liked, Harvick said Mike Huckabee.

"[Rudy] Giuliani has been to a lot of NASCAR races," Harvick said, "but I just like the way Huckabee presents himself, whatever that matters for."
