Here is how the 2012 schedule will most likely look like when announced shortly. Unless something drastic happens, Texas will announce a 2 race event again this year making the 16 race count that Indycar needs to complete a schedule. That is pretty sad if you ask me.

Here is the 2012 Indycar season schedule..

March 25: St. Petersburg, Fla. (street circuit)
April 1: Barber Motorsports Park (permanent road course)
April 15: Long Beach, Calif. (street circuit)
April 29: São Paulo, Brazil (street circuit)
May 27: Indianapolis Motor Speedway (oval)
June 3: Detroit (street circuit)
June 9: Texas Motor Speedway (oval)
June 23: Iowa Speedway (oval)
July 8: Toronto (street circuit)
July 22: Edmonton (street circuit)
Aug. 5: Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (permanent road course)
Aug. 19: Qingdao, China (street circuit)
Aug. 26: Infineon Raceway (permanent road course)
Sept. 2: Baltimore (street circuit)
Sept. 15: Auto Club Speedway (oval)

Are they actually going to get more races on a better channel than Versus or do they still have their heads up their arses?

Versus wants Indycar and has gone above and beyond any attempt ABC/Espn has done for the series in years. Versus showed nearly every minute of qualifying for Indy last year Abc/Espn the last few years of covering it showed the first and last hour only. Not to mention the number of times they cut the race off because of time restraints. I remember a race about 5 years ago Buddy Rice flipped over and before they could show if he was ok or hurt they cut the race off.

Versus is now owned by NBC Sports.

The deal IndyCar signed with ESPN for their five races stated that VERSUS/NBC Sports Network cannot air any of their races on NBC. That was a ****ty deal for everyone except ESPN.

Yep...heads still up their arses...

Texas will also host one race there on June 9th, no more twin race gimmick. Im glad, Texas was always a good race, there was no reason to mess with it.

I liked the idea of the Twin races - but I hated the blind draw for starting positions in Race Two.

But my feeling is that tracks like TMS should not be hosting these cars. It's a recipe for disaster.

So, with Baltimore basically off, we now only have 14 races and television contracts that require 13 races air on NBC Sports Network and 4 or 5 races air on the networks of ESPN.

This could get interesting.

I heard a few sources say they are trying to work out a deal to run at Rockingham next year. So that would make for an interesting addition.

If they think Vegas is too fast and too small,:eek::eek:!

I hope the Baltimore situation voids the contract though, that was a piece of **** contract they signed anyways. They would've been better off cutting ESPN out altogether (**** the Indy 500 on ABC "tradition") and going all in with NBC.

ROCKINGHAM!!!! :whoopee: :whoopee::whoopee:

Now that would be an awesome race.

Oh, and Indycar, please get rid of ESPN now before I get so sick of hearing Marty Reid I go ballistic. :espnsux:

Now it appears that Indycar may have thier season finale this year on a street course in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

I just cannot get excited about another street course, enough already. You have a perfectly good oval down there at Homestead-Miami, put the finale there, the series needs more ovals. The finale would be the weekend of September 28th-30th.

On one good note, The Milwaukee Mile may be back on this year's schedule in June.

Any word on what will replace Baltimore yet?

Hearing all of the ESPN races will air on ABC. And the Baltimore Grand Prix is still on, completing the required 17 race schedule.

Yes, ABC is the only channel the races are allowed to be broadcast on. So no NBC Sports Network that took over Versus.

I had heard that after that was signed, ESPN was going to put all their races on ESPN2 with the exception of Indianapolis. Glad they aren't doing that.

It was a ****ty deal to sign. IndyCar should've just signed on exclusively with NBC.

I think that having all of the races on an over-the-air station will do wonders for the IZOD Series! VS - or NBC Sports Whatever - is only available in half of the households in America - if that.

While NASCAR is being shown on ESPN or TNT, folks without cable or satellite (and there are many) will be tuning to ABC to watch!

The majority of the races would be on NBC Sports Network on cable, but moving Long Beach GP and The Baltimore Grand Prix (assuming it happens) to NBC would do wonders.

For IndyCar, NBC would be the better deal. NBC has NBC Olympics, NBC News, the Super Bowl, the NFL game of the week, MSNBC 2012 and the highest rated cable network (USA). NBC has far more to advertise IndyCar than ESPN (which doesn't advertise it at all) does.

It looks like Milwaukee will be on this year's schedule. That is finally some good news for the schedule.

I cannot imagine that the city expected to make money the first time out. What short-sighted idjits...

Nowhere do I see a politicker talk about how many people showed up, and how much residual income was brought to the city because of those two races.

A few of these politicians that are going after the Grand Prix tried to bring SRB down last year because of the BGP. The citizens of Baltimore don't want the BGP because they think the taxes would be better spent elsewhere, like fixing roads and schools and stuff. Even though Baltimore, like DC, spends a majority of its revenues on welfare and other social programs. This was done to bring in revenue in the long run.

No wonder politics is such a disaster, the Baltimore City politicians don't have a clue how businesses work. Businesses, sports arenas, startsups and all NEVER make money their first year.

The Milwaukee Mile race is set now. It is the weekend of June 16th-17th.
