Beginning at Noon EST on Twitter, a new month every five minutes.

The Daytona 500 will start the regular season on February 26th, so another tradition gone as the 500 will no longer be held on President's Day Weekend.

Steve O'Donnell: Moved Daytona 500 back a week to close "off week" gap in week three and avoid Super Bowl down the road

He's referring to talk in the NFL about expanding the regular season to 18 games, which would move the Super Bowl to President's Day Weekend... this also closes the off-weekend.

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever:

2 March 4 Phoenix TBA FOX
3 March 11 Las Vegas TBA FOX
4 March 18 Bristol TBA FOX
5 March 25 Fontana TBA FOX
6 April 1 Martinsville TBA FOX
7 April 14 Texas TBA FOX

So race out west, go back east for one week, go back west, come back east then go back west again.

I sure wish they would have moved Bristol later. I've always hated when it snows that March weekend.

Should be: Daytona, Phoenix, Vegas, Fontana, Texas, Talladega, Bristol, Martinsville.

It's ridiculously cold in March, even parts of April. Hell, I've been to a Richmond "Spring" race in May where the high was 41 degrees.

I like your schedule better. Likewise I've been to Richmond under those same circumstances. Bristol is probably one of the camping meccas of the NASCAR circuit. I haven't had to experience those kinds of temperatures in a tent but I can only imagine. I have seen snow as well as snow angels. I've had my water hose freeze to my RV. I've had to scrape my windshield in the morning to go out for coffee. The one thing that has worked out is that my cooler ice seems to last much longer. :D So I guess I'll still have that.

I do like that they removed that first off week. That never made sense. All of the Build up to that Daytona 500 and the beginning of a new year only to take a weeks hiatus. Dumb.

March and early April is hit or miss on the East Coast. I know this past Winter, we had 90 degree weather in FEBRUARY  and snow in April.

But I don't like that there's only two off weeks. There used to be four and there should be four.

I shouldn't complain too much. Bristol was fine this past year but more often than not, it is not the greatest weather.

Steve O'Donnell says NASCAR is happy with the finale being in Homestead, a market that supports no events (except for Lebron James:rolleyes:) and no plans to move the finale to Las Vegas where it belongs.

Hallomartinsville just doesn't have the same ring as Hallodega. I think that was a bad move on the schedule this year and apparently next year as well. That being said, I'll be there for Hallomartinsville this year and probably next.

The Night Race at Bristol televised on ABC again -- so, half the country will miss it again. Why haven't NASCAR and ESPN learned this yet, that's the one race that absolutely needs to be on cable. ESPN understood that in the 90s, NBC understood it.

I'll be at Martinsville next week! Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300! :beerbang::growl:

Maybe they're just trying to sell tickets so they'll fill the place up again. You wanna see it? You gotta buy as ticket! That sounds like Bruton.

Martinsville is a greaaate track! We've got Charlotte in a couple weeks and then Martinsville to finish our races this year. We hope to add to those HoF attendance figures for 2011.

I might be going to Rockingham later this year for UARA finale, waiting to see how all that's going to play out. If I do go, I'll stop by the HoF for sure.

Dover Spring race now falls on the same weekend as the NHRA Supernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown. Great decision, NASCAR.

Works for me because that means it will also move the Bud Shootout away from Valentines Day weekend ;)

Valentines Day sucks enough already even with Daytona that week. Sorry, not a fan of a "holiday" that's designed to make single people feel like ****.

Every race remains the same length in distance as last year with the exception of Pocono, which will now host two 400 mile races.

So enjoy sitting through two boring ass 500 mile suckfests at Texas.

Steve O'Donnell had no definitive answer about racing in Dover past 2012:

odsteve Steve O'Donnell
#2012schedule hopeful that crowds will come back. “@amarquis32: @odsteve What's the future of racing at Dover past 2012?”

In regards to racing on dirt:

odsteve Steve O'Donnell
personally, would love it!“@SlickNick11: @odsteve would #NASCAR ever return to dirt? Even if it was a non-points exhibition type race?”

It's amazing how this works: The oval races are the exciting races in IndyCar and there aren't enough of them, the road courses are the good races in NASCAR and there aren't enough of them.

I propose a schedule swap. :D

Surprised Kansas didn't land a night race, guess it's because of changes in the schedule to accommodate repave.

The Ty Dillon Series race at Kansas next weekend will be in primetime.

The whole schedule needs a major overhaul, especially in the Chase. We have the same races in the Chase every year, it gets kind of boring. The schedule should be shortened back to 30 races and should start with Daytona, Homestead, Phoenix, California, Texas, Bristol, Martinsville and end with Vegas.

And, while at it, the Chase should be extended to 30 races starting at Daytona and ending in Vegas -- and the Chase field should consist of 43 drivers.

FOX only gets 13 Races?? :beerbang::beerbang::beerbang:Why's it feel like a hudred???

As in past years, FOX will broadcast the first 13 races of next year's schedule. TNT will follow, broadcasting the next six. ESPN/ABC will broadcast the final 17 events. Race start times will be announced at a later date.

I hope they are reading this thread. I like the above idea.:sarcasm:

fixed it for ya DP
