lol

Having those cars side by side just underlines how pathetic nascar's 'stock car' body rules are.

Well that sucks! Someone else will probably end up posting it. If not this thread is totally useless.

Dodge unveils 2013 Sprint Cup Charger

I wonder if the wind tunnel numbers are as good as the car looks. I hope someone jumps over to Dodge, because they actually brought a street looking car that doesn't depend on decals.

Ralph Gillies is on Wind tunnel and says Fiat is commited to NASCAR. Then he says Penske wanted a 5 year commitment, but Dodge didn't want to go that long. WTF? 5 years isn't long at all. anyway, Ralph says they are getting a lot of interest from team and are considering a TRD type program.

Man that thing has some horrifying aero issue's :(

Thats what I'm thinking. I'm no aerodynamic genius but won't that grill hinder the air flow? Why not just drag a parachute behind it and a bumper sticker that say "We give up but we look cool" and be done with it.

I saw that too and I found it quite interesting!

I don't know about how it would stack up to other designs in terms of aero but it doesn't look that much more "brickish" than the COT does, IMO.

I think it's a cool design appearance-wise. But then I think the Charger police cars they drive in my town look freaking awesome!

What was unveiled yesterday was a representation of what the car will look like, not an actual race car. The actual race design will likely be slicker and that nose will be sealed.

those are ugly as sin, has most Chargers are. I am thinking RPM goes back to Dodge.

RPM makes sense , they change brands and drivers every year and they wouldn't care about a long term contract. They would be great with Robby , exchange information , etc.

Great looking car. Looking forward to seeing the Malibu SS that Chevy will unveil.

I'm looking forward to what Chevrolet does also. I heard a lot about it being a Malibu but I read yesterday that they are delaying because it's a 2014 model car that hasn't been revealed yet which leads me to think it may bot be a Malibu because thats been revealed. Rick Hendrick did refer to the car as an SS and in the Rolex the Chevy Exec said it's gonna be real special. Seeing the Ford and Dodge it'll have to be. I seen a spy shot of the Toyota but it didn't look like anything special. Here's the pic...Can't see much with that paint job. I thought the Chevy would leak out after the Feb. test @ Homestead but nothing.

If it has the same downforce to drag ratio as the other car makes, then what is the problem?

From the articles I've read these are still common template cars. They all agreed to the new rake angle for the roof and other aspects of the car as a group. They were allowed to use glass and sheet metal in the green house area and can work with the sides. I'm sure the numbers on the cars are gonna be really close to the rest. Also Jayski said that all these models all have to go to the NASCAR wind tunnel before they are final, so they could change a little bit from what we see. Regardless though, I think we can all (most) agree that this is pretty cool to see and the cars are looking good and we can distinguish the Dodge and the Ford without the stickers on them. Body lines on a cup car! Where have you been? Lol

I think that the picture showed a front grill opening that gave the appearence of being a large air scoop. The actual front end that hits the track may have a decal that resembles it. Would it not?

Maybe, maybe not. Look at the NW Challenger with the big air pocket in front. Dodge said they shaped it so it holds air, which compresses and reshapes the front end for low aero numbers.

I would say it'll be a sticker. Either that or maybe they'll leave it to the teams and tape it off at tracks where they feel it's necessary. Although so far, no team has to worry about it
