Nope, he wasn't a full time NNS driver, In My Opinion the top driver in any series should be entered as driving for the championship, not a cup driver dropping down to the minor's. Dillon win's it.
If the majority of fans feel the same way you do, then they need to exclude Kyles name completely, and explain that he is not eligible for the top driver award. Because, by giving him second place will give the people that isn't into Nascar as deep as we all are, the opinion that Dillon is a better driver then Kyle, and we all know that is not true. I only see two options...either Kyle is not eligible, or Kyle wins the top driver award. I was glad to see that Alex Bowman was second for the top break through performance award.

Exactly. He's obviously eligible since he got HM, and he clearly had the best season. The only explanation, IMO, is that NASCAR is more uneasy about the Buschwhacker debate than they let on. Naming Kyle DOTY when they switched up the championship format a couple of years ago to avoid this would probably not go over too well with fans.

I just did a little looking around and It seems that the series champion for each of the three series is always chosen as the Top Driver and since kybu was not the series champion he could not be the top driver, It's as simple as that. And also we should know in four or five years who the better driver is, kybu or Austin Dillon.
