2014 Corvette at 200mph

Very freakin cool!

I wonder what I could get my 2003 Honda Civic with 240,000+ miles on it up to on that new highway? I'd bet at least 185 err 85 mph anyway.

Hennessey builds some badass cars. I can't wait to see what they do with the next best model Corvette.

Got my friend's Prius up to 95 mph & that's all she sang.

That's nothing. Have you seen what a Subaru can do in an empty parking lot?

I've seen a couple of 500 HP Hondas with twin bottles. Friggin' nuts if you ask me.

The guys that helped set up my '72 truck motor did some head work for some kids with Dodge Neons. The kids put bottles on their cars. They didn't care how long the lower end lasted, they made their money in just a few races. I ran my '63 (damn near stock 390) F100 against one for a joke and the kid pulled me halfway into 2nd gear.

3 weeks ago, when I posted the thread on the Ultima GTR car, I was leaving the car meet in my '72 short bed. Everybody knows not to speed away from the car show because The Promenade Mall (where it is held) would frown and not let us meet there anymore. Well, as I headed south away from the show, a guy in a beautiful, paper-plated, white '14 Vette cruised past me. Just about then, a kid in a turbo WRX zipped up along side the Vette and off they went. I saw the dark exhaust come out as they sped off, so I knew someone got on it. Just as they passed Oxnard St., an LAPD Dodge Charger spun out of a small side parking lot, after them. The Vette and the WRX were (I suspect) already near 100mph as they went past the hiding patrol car. The radio car caught up to them at a red light about 1/2 mile away. the black & white pulled halfway into the intersection, cross-ways in front of the Vette (that was ahead of the WRX) and the officer exited his vehicle, hand on his gun and motioned the two cars to pull to the side of the road. I had an ear-to-ear grin as I drove past (at the speed limit.) :D

You should have stuck your head out the window and screamed "The Turtle wins again".

That story reminds me of my youth. I lined up my 72' Cutlass with my friends 70' Duster at 3 AM on the newly paved Main St. We were just talking until some headlights pulled in behind us, and my friend took off, so I nailed it too. I quickly jumped out front and those headlights in the rear view got smaller, then turned a flashing red. lol When the 411's topped out, I pulled over so Richie could get away (and I had a detectives PBA card) but they caught him anyway. The cop was so pissed we raced side by side down a 1 lane right in front of him, he tore up the card and wrote me a ticket for 90+ in a 45.

We had the same court day, and Richie went first. He tried some lame excuses about not being the guy the cop saw racing, but the magistrate knew the whole story and called him an idiot and slammed him with a fine and driving restrictions. When he asked what my story was, I pointed at Richie and said "I was trying to help the slow poke cop keep track of that idiot". He laughed out loud and I got just a $150 fine for 'making his day'. Needless to say, Richie complained for the next 90 days of work only restrictions.
