Well, another season and thousands of games played, injuries suffered, foul calls made, travel calls made, arrests made, illegitimate kids made, and it all comes down to the same two teams again.

Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs

Again, I'm stuck in a position I hate LeBron for putting me in. I am rooting for LeBron to win another championship, as he still a home town kid and my son's favorite athlete. But, I hate just about everything else about the Heat. Dwayne Wade is a piece of crap who baited officials into giving him and that team dozens of foul calls to defeat the Mavericks in the 2006 NBA Finals. Miami fans are the most annoying to me anywhere, and yes that included Philly. It started for me with them when the Marlins beat the Indians in Miami after the Indians had a one run lead with one out in the ninth inning of game 7 of the 1997 World Series. The Indians had the chance to end 49 years of frustration for Indians fans and 33 years for fans of all Cleveland sports teams who hadn't won a championship since the Browns of 1964. Instead, Jose Mesa screws us and the Marlins who had had a team for all of like 2 weeks are partying like crazy in their coral colored clothes that would get their asses beat just on principal in NE Ohio. Now, you get Heat fans, who couldn't even be bothered to show up for games until LeBron decided to join DeWayne Wade and Chris Bosh in their town, even though they had won a title just a few years earlier. Just a bunch of front running, panzy clothes wearing, pieces of crap who show up to be seen.

Oh well, I see Miami winning this series pretty handily. The Spurs should have won it last year, but the Heat got the miracle break of a freak rebound getting tipped out to Ray Allen for a 3 at the buzzer in game 6 to avoid elimination. That was the best shot they would ever see.

Still pissed about last year. If the Spurs lose again I'm not sure if I'll be able to take it down here. Nobody cared about the Heat and all of a sudden everyone and their mother has been a diehard Miami Heat fan as long as they've followed the NBA. Bunch of bandwagoners and fairweather fans. I can't wait until the Big Three disband.

Kinda sucks we got the same two teams two years in a row (first time since Bulls-Jazz in '97 and '98), but hopefully the result will be different this time. Go Spurs.

I'm pulling for the Spurs.. Unfortunately.

Spurs match up pretty damn well with the Heat. Anyone who thinks this series will be quick and easy for the Heat is fooling themselves.

Duncan and those guys still remember last year so they have that fueling them. I believe they'll win it this time. One last horrah for Duncan and Manu.

Spurs are the only team thst are capable of beating Miami in a 7 game series.

You're exactly right.
I'm not terribly excited about this match up.
I was hoping for Miami vs. OKC.

I see this series going 7 with each team winning at home, with the exception of game 7.
(Although Miami may steal one on the road.)
Game 7 is in SA and I see (hope) that one's at least close.
No dog in this series for me (go Suns!).
Just hope for a classic Finals.

"Extra" motivation only goes so far, and there is as much if not more at stake for Miami then San Antonio. A 3 peat puts this team in the group of legendary teams and cements LeBron as one of the best players ever(even though he already is). The spurs have the better coach and system, but in a 7 game series that only gets you so far. Dwade is much healthier then last year, and Ray Allen and Chris bosh are playing much better then last years playoffs. Miami has too much athleticism and star power for the spurs to handle. Spurs are a great organization, but they're championship run is over.

Heat in 6

Those statements reek of ignorance. Miami has been in the top 10 of the league in attendance even before the big 3 era. Also, the spurs have a large bandwagon fanbase as do all teams that win regularly. And you might as well get used to the heat, LeBron is going to resign and they're gonna retool and do this all over again.

The Heat were 18th and 16th in attendance the two years before Bosh and James arrived. And people far outside Miami, up in central and north Florida who were "diehard" Magic fans are now "diehard" Heat fans. I've seen it.

I've seen a lot of die-hard Lakers fans turn in to die-hard Heat fans.

Me...circa 1998ish. Check out the hat. Boom. Hate being called a damn bandwagoner. Lmao. I get it all the time living 20 minutes from Lebrons hometown in Ohio. People assume I'm a Heat fan because Lebron went there. Wrong. I'm a Heat fan because 'Zo went there.

Obviously they aren't all, but there's a very good number of them down here as I mentioned in post #12.

I love espn, they make it seem like Miami is completely overmatched for the big bad spurs. Wishful thinking ;)

Not from what I've been hearing on there. It sounds like everyone I've heard on ESPN thinks that the Heat will win, mostly because Dwayne Wade is healthier than he was last year.

i know leg cramps can really hurt, but LBJ seems to magnify everything 100% when it not going his way

I really hated to see that happen to LeBron. My son was just about devastated. I certainly haven't been the biggest fan of everything LeBron has done over the years, but he is still a hometown kid. Cramps like that can be debilitating. There's no doubt about that, but people are just waiting for anything to pounce on him for. I knew the first thing a lot of people were going to say was "can you see Michael coming out of that game in that situation? No way!". The only thing is, we will never know. In some cases, LeBron is stuck being compared to the ex-spouse or lover who may have even passed on who will never again do anything wrong. The best and worst things he does will always be compared to Michael's "flu game", his two "three peats", his countless huge game winning shots in huge playoff games and the like. Even when LeBron makes the right basketball play and passes to a wide open teammate for a much better shot people want to criticize him and say things like "Would Michael have passed up that shot? Hell, no!". But, the fact remains that Michael did pass that shot up often when it was the better play to make. The difference is that in MJ's case, guys like Steve Kerr, Craig Hodges, B.J. Armstrong and John Paxson usually made the shot and made him look like a genius for giving them the ball. Of course, they may have been too afraid of what Michael would have done to them if they missed to do so, but that's a different conversation entirely. They aren't the same players, they just aren't. But, if that's the worst thing they can say about you, that's pretty good.

Heat fans suck so bad. Left with 4 minutes left. No offense Florida residents(here, you guys are cool) but south Florida absolutely blows. The people there suck and their sports fans reflect it.

On the otherside of the coin the Spurs are so dominant. So humble. Tough not to appreciate. The boss is a diehard Spurs fan. Tomorrow should be tolerable!

Not in Lakerland.

There are local laker haters that jumped on the heat bandwagon when Shaq went back/Lebron left the ****hole where he was spawned, but I've never met anyone from this state that completely jumped ship.

Dude, you're not kidding. They give the few good ones down there a terrible reputation. The only time the Hurricanes can come close to selling out a football game down there when they're not a Top 5 team is when UF or FSU come to town and that's largely because UF and FSU bring in loads of their own fans. Dolphins attendance is close to the worst in the NFL even when they're playoff contenders. Brand new park for the Marlins so they can average barely 50% capacity filled. Fail. I doubt the majority of them even know the Panthers exist.

Didn't expect the Spurs to manhandle tonight. 71 points in the 1st half? Jesus.

I forgot the Panthers existed. Lol.

But yeah, I kinda feel bad about the huge rebranding of the Marlins and the **** reception that teams gotten. They've actually made some noise since "relocating".

The Spurs were just ungodly hot last night (game 3) and the Heat, outside of LeBron and occasionally Chris Anderson, didn't seem all that inclined to do anything about it.

Several minutes left in the game and the arena is already half-empty. Sad.

It's going to take an almighty collapse by the Spurs and comeback by the Heat for this series to end as it did last year. Outside of LeBron and to a lesser extent Bosh, the Heat just haven't played remotely well.

The Eastern Conference was pretty weak this year too, it might just be that the Heat aren't as good as we thought.

True...but one was pre-Lebron and before he said they'd win 9 straight titles or whatever it was.

Still, four straight Finals appearances ain't bad.

He never said straight titles though...so he's still got a shot to get his prediction. :D
