There was another thread about this, but I can't find it.

Not a MOPAR guy, but Dodge has released this new video of the 700 hp+ Hellcat taking a pass down the quarter-mile and, crap, is this thing nasty or what?

10.8 seconds on the drag strip! In a factory mass-produced street car!

What a blast that Charger would be... But no manual transmission option??

Doesn't look like it though. The Challenger has one but the Charger is automatic only.

I was actually talking to my dad about this a few weeks ago. He toyed around with some amateur drag racing in the day and has some cool muscle cars. He told me thinks we're getting close to the point where (on the drag strip at least) an automatic transmission will be better than manual because there won't be an interruption of power to the wheels at any point. I told him I thought he was nuts and I was supposed to be the young whipper snapper who would say something like that. :)

85% of drag cars run automatics now. Granted we put manual valvebodies in them, but they are still shifted by timers or RPM switches and electric solenoids or air cylinders.
