This race should be awesome considering the pickle that JGR is in. They have 3 drivers fighting for 2 spots and I don't see any of them having the car to win next weekend, maybe Kyle. I am also looking forward to seeing the #3 car put the #4 car into the wall. I would be surprised if this didn't happen with the "personalities" that are involved.

I think the chase is finally coming to a head and the nice guy routines are out the window. It's win or die time and I think this is going to be uglier than talladega 1.

Will be there all 3 days. Heading out Thursday.

Hey just fyi, Arizona doesn't change for daylight savings time. I just don't want you to miss anything.
Currently, 9am AZ time is 11am Eastern, 10am Central, and 8am Pacific.
March to Nov we are the same as Pacific time.

This week is going to suck as a Harvick fan. While Phoenix is the best track for Harvick to be in a "win to be in" situation, his Phoenix luck is bound to run out eventually. I will be on pins and needles until the checkered flag falls.

Well look at it this way, who are the drivers good enough to challenge happy for a win at his castle? Carl? He just won so he has no motivation to go up and take it to the 4. Dale Jr? Out. Kyle Busch? Maybe, but he has not had the car to win lately and he's in points racing mode against his teammates and Logano.

I hope you're right. I think keeping the 4 out of competition at Homestead is a good motivator for a lot of the guys you mention.

No pictures of the Avondale skyline?

For Carl I think keeping Harvick out of homestead is motivation. Plus he's had a couple good shots for victories at Phoenix during Harvick's current run. He ran out of gas at the white flag once while leading and he came as close to winning as you can this spring.

I think JGR has a great incentive to win. A win by Harvick guarantees that only one more JGR car will qualify for the finale at the most. While a win by them (JGR) allows for a possibility of 3 of them making it to Homestead . Edwards has win incentive too, given the point situation it would shut Harvick out, and could allow 1 extra team car to point their way in.

Rooting for Harvick while posting at the Outback with my free blooming onion.

TIRE CODES

Tire: Goodyear Eagle Intermediate Radials:

Set limits:
Sprint Cup: 5 sets for practice and qualifying and 9 sets for the race

Tire Codes: Left-side -- D-4664 Right-side -- D-4666

Tire Circumference: Left-side -- 87.56 in. (2,224 mm) Right-side -- 88.35 in. (2,244 mm)

Minimum Recommended Inflation:
Left Front -- 14 psi Left Rear -- 14 psi
Right Front -- 34 psi Right Rear -- 32 psi

Notes: Teams in all three NASCAR series will run the same tire set-up at Phoenix this weekend . . .

... this is the same combination of left- and right-side tires Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series teams ran at Phoenix in March . . .

... for Camping World Truck teams, this is a different tire set-up from what they ran at Phoenix last November . . . compared to what was run at Phoenix last season, both left- and right-side tires feature the same constructions with different compounds to give the trucks/cars more grip . . .

... Phoenix is the only track at which either of these two tire codes are run . . . as on most NASCAR ovals one mile or less in length, teams will not run liners in their tires at Phoenix.

Rules change starting at Phoenix: NASCAR announced a rules change that go into place this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway, site of the penultimate racing weekend of the season. The sanctioning body sent out a tech bulletin pertaining to Section 20.14.2.I-1 Truck Trailing Arms of the Sprint Cup rule book. The bulletin, which pertains to both the Sprint Cup and XFINITY Series reads as follows: "Truck trailing arm mounting slugs may be used to locate the truck trailing arms on the truck trailing arm mounting brackets. If used, truck trailing arm mounting slugs slots must be perpendicular to the slots on the truck trailing arm mounting brackets." A NASCAR spokesman said the new changes were designed to keep teams from getting an advantage in rear yaw or sideforce, and that the changes would be part of the 2017 rules package.(FoxSports)(11-10-2016)

Wait a second, didn't NASCAR earlier in the year require these to be welded, not bolted on, for the exact same reasons as above? Why would they take a step back now?

The mounting bracket is welded in place. The truck arms bolt to the bracket.

I'd love to sit on that hill --- however, who's going to volunteer to carry my comfy camp chair, my canopy/umbrella, and my ice chest? LOL
Girl, you pay my admission and I'll gladly be your sherpa.

EDIT: Oops, Clutch beat me to it. That'll teach me to pay too much attention to other current US distractions.

That there secret Gibbs Toyoder bone that let's em skew all round the track so fast!
There's a lot of truth in that.

NASCAR's rule writers have been chasing this for months.

I mean everyone can see it. After his crash last year Kyle's team had it installed in his leg and look how fast he's been since! Those TRD body parts give such an advantage in CG and throttle pressing time it's a minor miracle they get through LIS. It's as obvious as Harvick to the 5.
