Portland replaces Watkins Glen on Labor Day weekend.

"... inability to find a date that works for the fans ..."Those comments.
It does seem like Indycar was the party who broke down all communication.
Watkins Glen gets treated so ****** for some reason. F1 doesn't want it, Indycar is like whatve.
After they just spent a bunch of money renovating too.
Gateway had the second-biggest oval crowd of the year and the championship-deciding pass though. No chance they dump it. Ideally they would be adding and not replacing one with another, it just couldn't all come together for Watkins Glen with the Labor Day date.Gateway kind of sucks so I wish they would have replace that one instead.
The bread-and-butter of ISC and SMI is NASCAR so that will always be an obstacle. Most of them will never promote an IndyCar race like they do NASCAR (Gossage and Sperber seem to do a good job, hasn't really panned out yet in Sperber's case). And unlike with Cup races, the gate is probably the biggest thing that matters so if poor promotion leads to poor turnout then the event is DOA. You could have 20 people in the stands at a Cup race and it'd still be a money-maker with the TV contract. And you have to work around NASCAR weekends so as not to cannibalize the market as well.I say it every year so I'm not repeating it.
I read that they were trying to complete a deal with Mexico City still to take up a spot in between either the long St. Pete/Phoenix break or the Mid-Ohio/Pocono break.
Autodromo. Should be a good fit to replace the WEC race. That would be awesome, where are they thinking about locating it? The improved Autodromo? Or another city street course?
Probably not at the moment but I think there's something of a market for it...Richmond-Petersburg was the #2 market for IndyCar on NBCSN this year. Richmond would probably be a better race next year than the last few years they ran it.I'd rather see them at VIR than Richmond, but is either track interested in hosting an IndyCar race?
Gateway should really be the season ender, hope they never get rid of it, but it takes two. The show there was kind of boring with the exception of the Newgarden pass. I love Gateway, I regret not making the trek down there this year and it’s great they had North of 30000 fans there. I will hold out hope Watkins Glen finds itself back on the schedule soon, someone posted the track gets treated like crap I second that.Gateway had the second-biggest oval crowd of the year and the championship-deciding pass though. I really wish Indy Car would use their feeder series more as the “undercard” for their main event. At the very worst I also wish they’d pair up with trucks or Xfinity on some of their standalone events but that will never happen and why would it honestly. I love this series so much it’s on the way up with the right series sponsor, right schedule (getting there) and great racing they have I feel like many of the fans they lost will come back or new ones will be made at a pretty fast rate. The bread-and-butter of ISC and SMI is NASCAR so that will always be an obstacle. Another issue is that ovals largely can not put together a support series card like road courses and street circuits can. Lack of on-track activity leads to smaller turnout as well.
I think most people would like to see a few more ovals but they have yet to make financial sense for the most part.
Andersen Promotions (runs the Road to Indy) said the reason they cut down on ovals was because young drivers were scared and they had trouble filling the fields for them. MRTI is deeper than it was a few years ago though so it might be worth a shot again. US F2000 and Pro Mazda could both use another oval.I really wish Indy Car would use their feeder series more as the “undercard” for their main event. Yea my thoughts exactly. How will they learn to run ovals at Indy Car level if they are not doing it in lower seriesIf your scared you probably my shouldn't be racing

This was a few years ago when they had terrible car counts and basically no Americans. 2014 they had like 8 full-time cars in Lights and 2 of them Americans, this year there were 14 and 7. So if they tried it again it’d work out alright I think.Yea my thoughts exactly. How will they learn to run ovals at Indy Car level if they are not doing it in lower series
