2021 Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey

Hard to choose who to cheer for here. My boy Dixon is just too far back to make a comeback.

In the other hand, both O'Ward and Palou truly deserve it on merit. Palou has been more consistent so it would be a shame if he loses it having led virtually all year.

Newgarden has been a little bit of a drama queen this year so it's kind of hard to like him for his third 'ship. :lol2:

That 45 has been well-engineered all season. Good pace regardless of who’s been in it.

Herta on pole, Palou 4th, O’Ward 6th, Ericsson 7th, Dixon 8th, Newgarden 17th - may need a miracle from that far back.
 
Dixon made an amazing start. Passed like 3 cars before the first corner.
 
Thought everyone was going to get away clean for once. Still a clean start overall.
 
Pato was squirrelly as hell starting on blacks. Tough to fight people off on the start when everyone around you is on reds.

He needs to relax and try to hold position until the crossover point between reds and blacks. It’ll be a high deg race on both tires but blacks should be preferred here.
 
Dixon went from 3rd to nowhere. Even a Rehal is in front of him.
 
Has there ever been a car in any series that was both sponsored by a prescription drug AND had a paint job worth squat?
 
Not sure why Rossi is racing the leaders so hard. I’ve seen him a few times fighting front runners while he’s lapped.
 
The disparity between tires are so ridiculous. They need to come up with a better compound of tires that doesn’t implode 5 laps in either way. Jesus
 
Doubt Dixon gives a **** about what just happened.
 
Wow, what the hell was Sato doing there? Just kept rolling back into Dixon. That’s a no bueno for aero.
 
And what do these announcers think will happen when O’Ward gets within a second of the lead group? He’ll just get trapped too.
