Next year could be amazing. Hell next year we might actually have to send people home if we get enough teams some weeks… wow
They have been doing that regularly in the Trucks and the Xfinities. It will be something if they do. They only need two cars to start a race team in cup. Yeah that's a bit thin, but it is doable, three so if one was busted up they would have two to go to the race. People rail on Nascar, but all those people aren't billionaires because they are stupid.

HUGE news, probably deserving of it's own thread! I'm very glad to see GMS making the jump. I'm guessing they will have a strong alliance with Hendrick Motorsports, but time will tell
^^I just created it. Missed it here.

Any thoughts on who Tyler Reddick will be driving for next year. I know the Penske organization will have some shuffling going on. I would love to see him go to SHR, they need something to pick them up.
I'm not a huge Kurt Bush fan but I think if you put him back in an SHR car both him and Harvick would be right up front again.

RCR. Richard isnt letting him go without a fight I'd imagine

It is so cool to see Alex get this contract extension. Knowing that a company like Ally and a racing organization like HMS seeing so much value in Alex makes me feel so good for him. It is just plain awesome to see someone you have worked around when they first started out go on and have so much success in their life. It couldn't of happened to a nicer guy and he deserves it.

I believe it was on DBC this week that they said expect some big silly season domino to fall Friday or this weekend. I can't imagine this was it.

Hamlin and Justin Marks said a couple of weeks ago they’re not willing to pony up that much for charters. Eventually these asking prices are going to drop, some of the smaller teams probably can’t even afford to turn over a whole fleet for multiple entries because they typically run older stuff.

I'm guessing Kaulig obtained two (or one of the two) charters from Rick Ware. Rick Ware wanted too much for the charter and they disagreed.

With GMS, JRM, a (possible) second entry from 23XI or Trackhouse is causing a major bottleneck with the charters now.

A little interesting that AJ is still doing Xfinity full-time with a part-time Cup deal. A lot of other drivers will want a piece of the second Cup car.
Haley will probably have Leaf Filter, plus a driver bringing in sponsorship in the second car.

We might see a musical chairs a lot next season.

I love being wrong:

So Spire will focus on Lajoie while Haley sticks with Kaulig. Wait Spire sold them both and they leased a charter to Trackhouse this season...

My head is spinning already.

I doubt that was the big news they were talking about... because this was no big surprise and was actually kind of expected. It would have been more of some shocking news if it hadn't happened imo. Alex has done such an outstanding job and things are clicking very well with all of the HMS teams right now so I doubt anyone wants to see any major changes. It seems like all of the HMS drivers get along with each other pretty good there also.

yeah mine too. I read somewhere that if a team with a charter didn't perform in like three years they had to sell the charters. I could be wrong though, but Spire hasn't been doing that great..I'm waiting for Rick Ware Racing to bite the dust

Edit I found it on Nascar.com

Charter teams are held to a minimum performance standard. If a Charter team finishes in the bottom three of the owner standings among all 36 Charter teams for three consecutive years, NASCAR has a right to remove the charter.

Right, they’re selling the 77 and 99 and keeping Corey full-time next year.

So I think we can single out RWR as the biggest culprit of holding charters hostage for now.

Ware has the 52 and 51 outside of the top 36... They are on the verge of losing one of those because I think the either of those have hovered around that space for almost three years.

Ware could lose two, honestly.

Spire bought a third charter last year before they leased it to Trackhouse this year.

If I read this right this leasing thing is about to expire this year. Charter owners may transfer their Charter to another team, for one full season, once over the first five years of the agreement.

Here's another thing, from Nascar.com, they are going to have to re approve the charter system in 2024 so I would expect some changes

3 wins in over 80 races.
We’ll see.
How many did Jimmie Johnson have before moving up? You can’t ever really go by that stuff man. It’s a good stat line to look at, but can’t always go off it. Dale Jr did great in his two full time years there, it didn’t translate at all. You might be right, and also it depends on how the team runs as well, but we can’t say he’s not ready based off one stat.

I like Haley a lot. He races pretty smart and doesn't get tangled up very much. That is a big help in Xfinity, but going to the big show, most of those drivers don't get tangled up very much at all and they have speed also. Reddick burned up Xfinity, Briscoe wasn't far behind and both of them haven't set cup on fire and they were better than Haley is.

AJ had his time in Cup. I get he’s the most experienced and the easiest choice for that seat, but IMO take a chance on someone else who didn’t fail out.

I agree, Dinger didn't cut it in Cup but he has found his level in Xfinity. I wonder how good the Kaulig cars will be in Cup. They aren't world beaters in Xfinity, they are decent cars but it's a different world in Cup, new car or not.
