MLB does not, but baseball hasn’t been an Olympic sport much recently anyways…2012 and 2016 they weren’t, 2020 they were back, 2024 it’s off again, TBD for 2028. NHL used to take off for the Winter games but didn’t in 2018 because the IOC wouldn’t pay insurance and other costs. 2022 there were still COVID shenanigans, but with any luck they’ll be back for 2026 again.

The World Baseball Classic has proven to be a bigger tournament than baseball at the Olympics ever was anyways.
But going by that, when was cat racing ever an Olympic sport? Maybe they should have SRX at the Olympics?

They have used mono hull Lasers for years in the Olympics. It's a fun little boat to sail. I'm more partial to the much faster small cats. Hobie, Sol Cats and Nacras are the three I sailed mostly.

A short track somewhere
I was going to ask if baseball stops for the Olympics, but remembered teams have TV deals with local affiliates. I assume hockey and basketball have similar arrangements.
Hockey used to stop for the Olympics. Not anymore. I wonder if that has anything to do with ESPN and TNT.

NBA Basketball is off during Olympics anyway.

Really good move.
NASCAR also announced Sunday that a NASCAR Mexico Series race will be held Feb. 4, 2024, ahead of the Busch Light Clash for the Cup Series. It marks the first time there’s been another series to race on the quarter-mile track inside that stadium other than the Cup Series.

The NASCAR Mexico Series competes on tracks throughout Mexico. Cup driver Daniel Suarez began his stock car racing career in that series.

So based off this you can set the 500 for Feb 18th.

Then you just end up with two many mile and half tracks again. I don't need 2 races on the oval and 2 years ago no one else did either. The Roval is unique and needs to be there.
I love the roval, if they want to kick it into super overdrive run that badboy under the lights! Smash hit! No pun intended

Just when I thought top brass was headed in the right direction by going back to 2 races on the regular surface at Bristol, we get this.

So we lose fontana and road America, but we get.........an exhibition race in a stadium in LA and a street course in Chicago

I'm not sure how the Olympics are related to not having an X race at Road America. Is NASCAR dropping a race from next year's X schedule? If not, then it looks like RA's race is being given to another track. If that other track can be fitted into the schedule, why couldn't RA's weekend?

Signed, Confused in Carolina (again).

Road America already has such a packed summer schedule that there were probably only two or three other weekends available, which maybe couldn’t work due to other plans NASCAR has elsewhere.

Xfinity will probably have a midweek race or two of their own, if not a doubleheader, to make up for the break.

I guess the big question now is whether the All-Star race goes back to North Wilkesboro and will they pave it.

I guess my question is whether it's a points or all star race. If they're still going to LA they have to do North Wilkesboro in some capacity

Based off an IndyStar article about the IndyCar race there, NASCAR and SMI are targeting a move back to the spring for the Texas race, ~ April 14th.

Which puts the Indy Texas race on life support from what I’ve seen on social media

Next year’s NASCAR Mexico Series race at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is taking shape, with eligibility requirements for the race revealed Wednesday.

RELATED: Busch Light Clash returning to LA Coliseum in 2024 | Buy Clash tickets today!

The field, which will take on the legendary venue Feb. 4, 2024, will be set based on these parameters:

– Top 10 drivers in regular-season points standings following the race at El Dorado Speedway (Sept. 23).

– Top six drivers in the NASCAR Mexico Challenge Series following the race at El Dorado Speedway (Sept. 23).

– Two Championship Provisional drivers, awarded to the most recent NASCAR Mexico champions not eligible based on driver points.

– One driver via fan vote, with eligibility coming from the rest of the field behind the cutoff in both divisions. Vote to be held for Mexico residents only.

– One guest driver, who will be announced at a later date.

Seven drivers have already punched their tickets to Los Angeles next February. These drivers are Rubén García Jr., Salvador de Alba, Germán Quiroga, Andres Pérez de Lara, Max Gutiérrez, Alex De Alba (Challenge Series) and Ruben Rovelo (Championship Provisional 1).

Huh. I'd think if Texas had only one date, they'd want it in the playoffs. Maybe fall football draws the butts to other seats?

Would a new spring date at TMS impact COTA in anyway?
TMS staff the COTA event but it’s still on tap for March 24th.

Definitely. The Cowboys, college football, and high school football are all bigger fall priorities than racing in Texas.
