StandOnIt
Farm Truck
Coming up in a couple of weeks.
I would suggest to don't look, take up golf, or some other activity. They are going to get posted, we do it every year. It's a thing around here.Unpopular take:
These throwbacks are getting ridiculous. They used to be related to the car or driver or sponsor, now they just throwback to anything they want totally unrelated to anything for the team, driver, sponsor, car #. They need to try harder.
No they didn't. They've always chosen the ones they wanted.Unpopular take:

Jr. is a paint scheme expert. It's ridiculous to think he is just slapping paint jobs on there for the hell of it. These are his way of honoring the driver. That's the way I look at Darlington, it's Nascar's history. No they didn't. They've always chosen the ones they wanted.
Right? These all are pretty greatJr. is a paint scheme expert. It's ridiculous to think he is just slapping paint jobs on there for the hell of it. These are his way of honoring the driver. That's the way I look at Darlington, it's Nascar's history.
Whats your point? Did I ask anybody to not post them? All I did was give my opinion on it. Hell I even said I knew it would be an unpopular opinion. I guess I need to give up being a NASCAR fan and go to golf since I'm not a fan of the throwback. Do you listen to yourself?I would suggest to don't look, take up golf, or some other activity. Man the color looked way off in the video. I was watching in silence at work...I thought it was blue.Throwback to 1965 and Jim Clark's win in a Lotus Ford powered #82 at Indianapolis. The Woods brothers pit crew brought their quick Nascar style pit stop that was a key component for the win.

It was called British racing green.Man the color looked way off in the video. I was watching in silence at work...I thought it was blue.
Yeah I'm just saying the live video lighting in the twitter video made it look blue.It was called British racing green.
Agreed. It looks blue in the video, green in SOI's post #17.Yeah I'm just saying the live video lighting in the twitter video made it look blue.
You're not allowed to dislike things around here don't you know?Whats your point? Did I ask anybody to not post them? All I did was give my opinion on it. They are horrible. They just need to abandon this.Unpopular take:

RF Term of Use: You have a right to your opinion as long as it is consistent with @StandOnIt whose opinion changes from time to time. His passion for convoluted throw back schemes is real. I am just hopeful that they can get Mike Joy et al. to play along so that the clown show is complete.Whats your point? Did I ask anybody to not post them? All I did was give my opinion on it. I understand the rice burners haven't been around that long, but it is Darlington's 75 year anniversary. Show a little respect to the track at least and quit embarrassing yourself and others who might enjoy the throwbacks. They are horrible. They just need to abandon this.
Oh I hear you. Nothing screams Darlington and history like a throw back to a Lotus. My apologies.I understand the rice burners haven't been around that long, but it is Darlington's 75 year anniversary. Is it even a thing anymore, or do some teams just keep doing it?I can understand both sides of the spectrum in terms of throwback weekend. Some entries feel forced creatively and this is more of a personal issue, but the current number placement for throwbacks from the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s looks really stupid. However I really think it’s awesome when teams roll their throwbacks out on social media while seeing in real time the fans excitement over a loved throwback. As a JG fan, it was great to see the 01 Flames scheme again that Byron drove a few years back (the 24 was in the wrong position though…I kid. Sort of) and an older fan like myself can enjoy certain throwbacks while a new generation of fans get a quick debrief on schemes drivers of a different generation piloted that made this sport what it is today. Throwback weekend is also a fun little event that can break up the sometimes monotonous grind of the Cup schedule, and it’s a race at Darlington too. I think it’s a no lose situation however some folks hate fun. Or watching others have fun.
You wouldn't understand... most weren't born yet, didn't follow F-1 or are incapable of reading about the development of the Lotus FORD engine a world beater of it's day. Throwbacks are about our racing heritage...do better, learn something. This contempt before investigation nonsense is getting old.Oh I hear you. Nothing screams Darlington and history like a throw back to a Lotus. My apologies.
That was me bud. Same guy every year does nothing but bad mouth the thread. Why does everything have to be controversial around here? This is a simple thread about Darlington. Don't look at the damn thing if you have a problem looking at freaking pictures. Go do something else.TBH I find this argument over what has to be one of the least remarkable "concerns" in motorsports to be utterly hilarious in every way. Lmao someone legit pulled out "rice burner" as an insult over the throwback schemes.
Obviously no sponsor buy-in.Ehh swing and a miss on this one.
