2025 IndyCar Race Weekend at Iowa

Y'know there's a lot of talk about Will Power and his future at Penske but I've got to wonder about McLaughlin. Interesting year he's having....and not in a good way.

Power has been the most consistent Penske driver this year and Malukas has made his fair share of mistakes as well. I think they’d be wise to offer him a 1 + 1 deal at the least. That team needs some continuity in the ****pits considering all the other turmoil there.

Newgarden on pole today, I wonder what catastrophe befalls him this time.

The track has already lost a lot of color from last year. Tire falloff seems to be coming into play a bit and handling, or lack thereof, is becoming apparent. I think the surface could be super racey again within two or three years, I just hope that isn’t too late.

Scottie is picking his way through the field nicely.

The changes seem to work out somewhat, no one is lapping the field.

Missed yesterday's race but the ticker tells me two Penskes are in 24th and 26th out of the race and experience tells me Newgarden will manage to **** up as well.

Newgarden is probably fully enraged right now. It’s gonna be fun watching him charge through the field now.

Excellent wheel-to-wheel battle that was with Malukas and Palou.

Are they two laps down?
Even if he's back on the lead lap with the wavearound, not enough laps to get the lead back.
Took the wave around to get back on the lead lap but he’s done for as far as the win is concerned. Shocking that that would happen twice.

Armstrong and Shwartzman seem poised for career bests. Wow!

Palou and CGR stay finding new ways to win.

I simply can’t fathom how gutting that is for Newgarden and the 2 crew. Absolutely shocking.

Lil Dave gave it a hell of a run to march back up to P4 at the finish. He got screwed by that yellow as well.

Newgarden is gonna be demoralized and he has every right to be.
Podium (IndyCar has that, right?) for Armstrong, awesome!
Shwartzman does get a career best but loses 5 spots in the last few laps.

All in all, they were quite racy, at least in the short runs. They don't have to keep this as a doubleheader but losing it completely would suck.

My expectations were on the floor for this weekend so I’m very pleasantly surprised by the racing for the most part. With another Iowa winter or two this place should mostly be back to normal. I sincerely hope they manage to have another race here next year.
It was a fantastic race. That crowd was a little sparse but fun to watch
