From Jayski's...
McMurray team gone after 2009? The #26 Roush Fenway Racing team of Jamie McMurray is expected to be dumped by Roush when it has to cut back to four Cup teams after this season.(Virginia Pilot)(4-15-2009)

I expect McMurray to be in a Yates car in 2010.

It's obviously down to Ragan and McMurray...and Ragan has more upside at this point.

I think mcmurry has been written off for a couple years already hasnt he?

Listen to this people...do I SERIOUSLY need to type the transcript? NASCAR's not going to make Rousch cut a team...

I have to agree! With the economy the way it is there is no way NASCAR will screw with or force a viable team to take a car out of the sport. It is all about the almighty $$$ and sponsors.

On the other hand, I could see a team down sizing on their own...

What I figured would happen actually is one of the Nationwide or Truck series teams that is a satellite of Rousch would take over the responsibility of the 5th car, including driver and owner's points. It would still be a Rousch team, but kind of a loophole. Like Baker Curb or something.

None of them are that closely associated with Roush, except Yates.

McMurray seems to understand the situation, but at the beginning of the season was optimistic about the season. He was impressive in Daytona, but since then hasn't done much of anything. He'll find a good ride once he moves on, it might even turn out better for him if he become the big name on a small team. He has sponsor drawing power, so he should be okay.

I don't know about that. Most of his sponsors were with Roush before McMurray came. He joined Ganassi in 2002 and had one win with them. Expectations were high and he never lived up to them, in fact, he never came close. When he went to Roush (in a car and team Kurt Busch won a championship with), everyone said this would tell what kind of driver he really is. He hasn't done anything impressive with Roush.

Now, he's approaching 33 years of age and only has 2 wins in Sprint Cup competition... but his price tag is enormous because he's won at Daytona (once). Your big sponsors are going to look at drivers with a lower price tag who have room to improve and get better, not fall off. Parker Kligerman, Brian Ickler, James Buescher, Chris Buescher, Patrick Sheltra, Jeffery Earnhardt and Austin Dillon all have more appeal to a sponsor than McMurray.

Didnt he win in sterlings car back when he got hurt in a wreck. I cant remember when that was 03 i think? I remember he won or came close then soon after he got put in a car full time.

2002 at Charlotte.

Problem is McMurray was a flash in the pan. Even Derrike Cope has 2 wins in Cup.

He's had some of the best equipment NASCAR has to offer and has done nothing with it. If Roush is forced to scale back, and that's a big if, McMurray isn't going to get a decent ride. He's 32 now... he's only going to get older.

I remember when a driver that was 32 had people waiting in line to give him a ride.

Roush will scale back his operations and concentrate on his 4 drivers. Ragan is not a very good driver, IMO, and he has impressed no one in the #6 car. They need a lot of work. He is behind McMurray in the points as of now. The rest of the Roush team has really not done that well. Edwards is in 8th, and Kennseth is falling like a rock, currently in 9th. McMurray will drive for Yates next year, which is basically driving for Roush. I would dump Ragan, because he has shown me nothing in his career, but that is just my opinion.

Ragan hasn't done as good in the No. 6 this year as I was expecting him to have. On the flip side, I expected McMurray to have done more in the No. 26 by now too.

It will not be David, does anyone really think Jack is willing to give up UPS sponsorship dollars because UPS will stick with David for a few years anyway (never saw a Reut UPS commercial but there are David UPS commercials everywhere, "Maximum Driver" overload already). Dewalt is leaving I think so Jamie's sponsors could possibly become Matts.

Both the 6 and the 26 were in the top 10 in Phoenix final practice. We'll see where they finish Saturday night.

Jamie is 27th in the standings and David is 29th. Both are disappointing, but David is a major disappointment. He was suppose to be a player this year.

Something is off with Rousch this year and their equipment. I agree that it's disappointing David hasn't done better, but he still might. I was impressed with him last year. Carl was thought to be the major contender for the championship this year and look at the problems he's having in both series. Carl might be a bit wild, but I still think he's a good driver. His equipment, not so much. Look what happened to him last night in the Nationwide race.

This reminds me of how Hendrick seemed to be ahead of the curve in 2007 with the COT and Jeff seemed to have a great handle on it. Last year, only Jimmie got things going in the right direction. Last year Rousch seemed to be the leader with the handle on the car. Now Jeff seems to have gotten a handle on the COT and the Rousch cars aren't doing as well as expected. It's like weird science or something. LOL

UPDATE: Team co-owner Jack Roush said Friday that no decision had been made regarding what his organization’s NASCAR Sprint Cup team lineup would look like in 2010. #26-Jamie McMurray, currently one of five Roush Fenway Racing Cup drivers, has been mentioned in media reports as the likely choice to go elsewhere, most likely to join Yates Racing next season. Roush Fenway Racing currently fields five Sprint Cup Series teams, but per changes to NASCAR’s competition policy instituted in 2006, Cup ownership groups can have a maximum of four teams. Because of sponsorship agreements in place at the time of the policy change, Roush’s organization was “grandfathered in” until the end of 2009. Yates Racing, which like Roush Fenway fields Ford entries, has a technical alliance with RFR. The Yates group began the season with three teams – fielding cars for #96-Bobby Labonte (through an alliance with Hall of Fame Racing), #98-Paul Menard and #28-Travis Kvapil – but recently shut down Kvapil’s team due to a lack of sponsorship. “That is premature,” Roush said of one recent report which said McMurray’s team was expected to be dumped. “And if I had something to announce, there would be something written on the shelf back there [in the media center]. We’re not thinking about next year yet, we’re thinking about this year. Certainly there was nothing that has happened in the last week that is noteworthy or newsworthy and I wouldn’t care to speculate.”(SceneDaily)(4-19-2009)

McMurray finished 11th last night and Ragan 22nd. McMurray is now 24th overall and Ragan 30th. I really have to question Ragan and his entire crew now. I do not think that they have anything to offer this year.
