The black #3 is back on the track in a dirt late model driven by Austin Dillon, Richard Childress' 16 year old grandson. It looked pretty good. Looks as though Richard and son-in-law Mike Dillon are steering the young boy in the direction of motorsports. What a surprise. :) Childress says that maybe in the near future, they can get him in a Busch-like car. Maybe a late model at Caraway Speedway is in order, but I believe he has to be at least 18 to race there as it's a NASCAR sanctioned track. Maybe a Hooters Pro Cup car?
 
I know they wouldn't let Kyle Busch race in the truck series till he turned 18
 
I've seen him race a couple of times this year. While he hasn't done anything to impress anyone, he hasn't done anything stupid the times I've seen him. He's running in the crate engine late model class right now. Dale McDowell is his tutor, he's also working for Childress in several capacities.

He also is running a Super Late Model dirt car at 311 Speedway.It was reported when RC flew in on his helicopter that Kenney Chesney was with him.
He did run a pretty good race. He finished 12th in one 25 lap race and 18th in another. He seems to have some good tutoring cause hes learning how to run fairly strong without bringing home a bucket of bolts.
He ran a little last year in a crate there.

This is where the story I reported on took place. 311 Speedway isn't far from here, or for that matter, not all that far away from just outside Welcome, where Austin lives. I've never been up there, but have been wanting to go since I've been down here. Maybe one of these days... I need to have some dirt in my beer. :beerbang:
