Someone on Twitter posted a link to a video a guy shot of where the old Ontario Speedway used to be located. That got me to searching for any videos of races from that tracks.
I also got to looking for some old Atlanta videos, particularly from the 70's where I attended a few of those races. I clicked through a few and even some in the 80's. The spring race from Atlanta in 1986 was on there. I watched part of it. Aside from the different track layout and the cars, the one thing that got my attention was a graphic they had showing a map of the country and where all the races are located. There were only 3 tracks that hosted races outside of the southeast - Pocono, Michigan, and Riverside. Fast forward to today and I count only tracks in the southeast if you count Homestead and don't count Kentucky. Makes you wonder where the sport would be today had it abandoned a big part of the south.
