from Jayski's...

...hearing that PPI Motorsports will close up shop after the 2006 season, that the pit crew has been hired by Michael Waltrip Racing and most of the team/crew at the shop has been laid off. Driver Travis Kvapil, as announced, will drive a Roush Racing Truck in 2007. Sponsor Tide is leaving after this season and word is that they will not be back in NASCAR as a sponsor.(11-18-2006)

Just doesn't seem like it was all that long ago that Ricky Craven won a race in that car. Now days, we have former open wheel champs making waves in the sport.

Much like 10 or so years ago, there has been a lot of talk recently about not enough spots for good teams with the new teams coming in. For every new team that comes in, another team folds because the sponsorship dollars are limited. The #32 and some of these part-time teams will be the ones to miss out. The biggest exception will be at Daytona.

I wish Tide would come back though.....I like seeing the sponsors that have been around for a while....GM Goodwrench, Corn Flakes, STP, Kodak, ect.

and you know something, with the CoT, the cost down in the ARCA series is going to drop briefly then soar- since there won't be any "normal" bodies being built anymore, the ARCA teams will have to look elsewhere's for rolling chassisses...but their rules only allow current cup car rolling chassis specs, don't they? So they're going to have to build their own roling chassises, which isn't going to be cheap, so even the ARCA guys will be suffering a little bit.

You have a point there Magnethead. I'm curious to see how thats going to work for ARCA.
