* Work Continues at Bristol: Crews have been working to replace all of the backstretch grandstands, install additional seats and construct 50 more luxury skyboxes. Forty-three thousand new seats will replace 35,000 seats that have been removed. The project at Bristol Motor Speedway is on schedule and about 25 percent complete, officials said Wednesday. Jeff Byrd, the track's vice president and general manager, gave an update on the $30 million project at a news conference here at which it was announced that the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series would return in August. "We are on schedule to have the most modern grandstand in motorsports so that we'll have 165,000 seats for the Food City 500 next March," Byrd said.(Bristol Herald Courier)(11-14-2002)

Now if only i could get down there for a race:( maybe in a few years

Thats the same here it cost too much to go to a race between the parking and the tickets to the food and drinks

yeah, and the plane tickets for me... i'm not driving cross country

Supposedly, they are setting a portion aside for Bristol residents to get first dibs. My Mom is all over it if it's true. Crossing my fingers!

Every NASCAR fan should make Bristol at least once in thier lifetime. If you don't leave that track with the adrenalin pumping then your dead. Tickets are the main problem, everyone wants to go to Bristol. Can you imagine 165,000 screaming stomping fans at a half mile oval track.

I'd love to go sometime, but getting tickets, a place to stay for the night, and traffic is something I can do without. This year, we caught the last race at Richmond, and that track is bigger, with less seats. Let's just say it was a total zoo. Had a great time though! :) Bristol is only about a three hour drive from me, but I enjoy going to Martinsville which is only about a hour's drive.

I hope that I will be able to go to at least one Bristol race in my lifetime:) My dad and I had so much fun at Phoenix we joked about continuing across the country to Miami:)

im thinkin about getting some tickets in the infield for the spring race and then the stands in the fall race

I went to both races this year. I doubt I make the Spring race but I will be at the night race. I never thought I would be a season ticket holder at Bristol but I am.

That's a great picture, Blazing24.

One day I will go there. One day.

I don't know where they think they are fitting 35,000 more seats. Maybe there will be seats over the track now. The good thing is that might bring the waiting list for tickets down to a year and a half from two years.

Just up the road, less than an hour...and I can't get tickets!

I got my tickets with one phone call. Call the ticket office and find out when the non-renewed season passes go on sale to the public and be on the phone that day. That's what I did. Season passes is the only way you will get tickets for the night race. Well worth it. Cost me $265.00 each. I've already bought my tickets for next season.

Actually, they are only adding 8000 seats. Removing 35000 and replacing them with 43000. That's according to the newsletter I received in the mail. They will also have an Earnhardt Grandstand.

Nah, got a better plan. A coworker in a different office lives outside turn three. And I do mean outside it, as in can see 1 and 2 from her deck. If I ever get the $ to go, she can get tickets...she knows everyone in the ticket office. :)

I wish they would make both races there night races after a feew years there owuld be no bristol left hehehe

I just wish Nascar would build more Bristols and less of the mile and 1/2 cookie cutter tracks.
