Racing scheduled for Saturday, April 7 at Volunteer Speedway canceled due to cold weather
BULLS GAP, Tenn. — With the cold weather system that moved into the region mid-week lingering around through Easter weekend, and the National Weather Service forecast predicting daytime highs in the 40s and nighttime temperatures in the 20s, racing scheduled for Saturday, April 7 at Volunteer Speedway has been canceled.

"The whole region has enjoyed daytime highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s for the past couple of weeks, but this cold front that's moved into the area has just dropped the temperatures too much to expect the racers and fans to have to come out," said Volunteer Speedway owner Joe Loven. "Plus with temperatures expected to be in the 20s from Thursday night through Sunday night, we've got to drain water pipes at the track and weather-proof for possible freezing. It's disappointing and all, because we are all geared up and wanting to get the weekly racing programs started. Hopefully by next weeked the weather will warm up."

With the start of the 2007 points chase pushed back one week until Saturday, April 14, a five-division racing program consisting of "Gateway Ford" ASA Super Late Model, "Ramey Ford" Fastrak Late Model, "Lawson Chevrolet" Open Wheel Modified, "Rusty Wallace Toyota" Hobby Stock and "Century 21 Masengill-McCrary Realtors" Mini Stock action is scheduled.
